  • Blue Jays' Brandon Drury: Optioned to alternate site

Drury was optioned to the Blue Jays' alternate training site Friday.

Drury was in the lineup for eight of the Blue Jays' last 13 games, but he picked up just five hits over 25 at-bats during that span, so the team decided to remove him from the roster to open up a spot for Daniel Vogelbach. Chances are Drury will rejoin the big club at some point, but given his .358 OPS on the season, he may not get the chance to play as regularly again.

  • Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA

Astros' Jack Mayfield: Third start in four games

Mayfield is in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Mayfield started just once over an eight-game span after being recalled Aug. 16, but he got the nod at third base Monday and will start there Friday for the third time in four games. He and Abraham Toro figure to continue sharing the third-base duties in some fashion until either Aledmys Diaz (groin) or Alex Bregman (hamstring) returns.

  • Sam Haggerty LF | TEX

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Productive during twin bill

Haggerty went a combined 3-for-7 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and three runs during a doubleheader against the Padres on Thursday.

Haggerty hit out of the No. 2 slot in the order in both contests and was certainly busy while extending his season-opening hitting streak to eight games. The former Mets minor-leaguer now boasts an impressive .303/.324/.485 slash line across his first 34 plate appearances of 2020 after having been promoted from the alternate training site back on Aug. 19.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Out of lineup for Game 1

Arraez is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Arraez currently has an eight-game hit streak and has a .904 OPS during that stretch, but he'll take a seat for Friday's matinee. Ildemaro Vargas will start at the keystone and bat fifth for the Twins.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Out 3-6 weeks

Torres (hamstring/quad) will be sidelined for "anywhere from 3-6 weeks," according to general manager Brian Cashman, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

If it's the long end of that timeline, Torres' regular season is over, and even if it's the short end, he will return with a little over a week left in the regular season. DJ LeMahieu (thumb) could return this weekend to work with Tyler Wade as the Yankees' double-play duo going forward.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Sent down by Angels

Rengifo was optioned to the Angels' alternate training site Thursday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rengifo was a relatively consistent member of the starting lineup early in the season, but he's seen his playing time drop recently as he's struggled at the plate. The 23-year-old hit .157/.283/.235 with one home run and one RBI over 18 games to begin the year, and he'll attempt to sort things out at the alternate camp and return before the end of the campaign.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Taking breather in series finale

Lowe isn't in Thursday's lineup against the Orioles.

Lowe will get a day off with left-hander John Means serving as the starting pitcher for the Orioles on Thursday. Joey Wendle will start at second base while Hunter Renfroe will be deployed as the right fielder.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Drills third homer

Mendick went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's 10-3 win against Pittsburgh.

The 26-year-old capped off the White Sox's four-run second inning by hitting a two-run shot to right field. Mendick has been a fixture at the bottom of the lineup with Nick Madrigal (shoulder) and Leury Garcia (thumb) sidelined, and he's taken advantage of the opportunity with a .266/.314/.443 slash line and nine runs, three homers and six RBI in 25 games.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Smacks 10th homer

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Orioles.

Lowe took Asher Wojciechowski deep in the third inning for his 10th homer of the season. After a power surge throughout the middle of August, Lowe has cooled a bit at the plate, as he's now just 3-for-22 across his last six games. Despite a slow stretch at the dish, Lowe is still hitting an impressive .296/.397/.676 with 26 runs scored and 27 RBI across 126 plate appearances to this point in the season.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: On bench against lefty

Kemp isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Kemp will take a seat with southpaw Kolby Allard on the mound for the Rangers on Wednesday. Franklin Barreto is starting at second base in his absence.
