Semien went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two strikeouts in Friday's 5-1 loss to Philadelphia.

While Semien's 12-game hitting streak came to a close Friday, he salvaged some value from the contest with his seventh stolen base of the season. The 30-year-old infielder is still hitting .365 (19-for-52) in May with three home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and a steal. Overall, he's knocked eight homers with 20 RBI and 21 runs scored in 163 plate appearances this year.

Mayfield was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Manager Scott Servais said earlier in the evening during a radio interview that Ty France (wrist) was headed to the injured list, and the paperwork is now done. Mayfield, a waiver acquisition from the Angels in late April, will replace France on the active roster. Mayfield is an ultra-light-hitting utility infielder (career .165/.193/.275).

Jones hit the minor-league injured list Friday with a strained left oblique, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The Orioles don't seem particularly concerned about the issue, with reports suggesting his absence should last days, not weeks. He hit .227/.333/.591 in 23 games for Triple-A Norfolk prior to suffering the injury.

Gimenez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Make it two straight absences for Gimenez. He is not known to be dealing with any sort of injury or illness, so it seems Amed Rosario may have leapfrogged Gimenez at shortstop. Harold Ramirez and Jordan Luplow have been in center field the past couple days with Rosario at short.

Altuve is not in the lineup Friday against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old has started all 17 games since returning from the injured list in late April, and he'll take a seat Friday while in the midst of a nine-game hit streak. Robel Garcia will receive the spot start at the keystone in Altuve's absence.

Lowe is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Lowe will head to the bench Friday with left-hander David Peterson on the mound for New York. Mike Brosseau will work the keystone in the series opener for the Rays.

Chavis started at second base and went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-1 win over Oakland.

The noticeably leaner Chavis took advantage of a sinking liner to center field that eluded Ramon Laureano and stretched it out for a double to lead off the bottom of the first inning. That ignited a three-run inning, as Boston's bats came alive for the first time in four games. Chavis has started three straight, including two at first base for a slumping Bobby Dalbec, and could be making a push to stay in Boston even after the roster gets healthier. Dalbec rose to the challenge Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a home run.

Rosario went 1-for-4 with a run, stolen base and strikeout as Cleveland won Thursday's match with Seattle, 4-2.

The steal was Rosario's second of the year but proved meaningless in non-fantasy terms as Jose Ramirez homered to bring Rosario home later in the at-bat. It's encouraging to see Rosario more active on the bases after zero steals last season, though he'll need to raise his average (.222) or on base percentage (.287) above their current mediocre marks to be considered a viable option.

Arroyo (hand) took batting practice on the field before Thursday's game, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Arroyo is ramping up activity since being placed on the injured list Sunday. His next step could a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester over the weekend, though the team has yet to finalize any plans. Arroyo is expected to be activated from the injured list when first eligible for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Hernandez (hamstring) will be on a rehab assignment this weekend with Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Hernandez is set to serve as the designated hitter on Saturday and play in center field on Sunday. He is first eligible to return from the injured list Tuesday, and if all goes well on his rehab assignment it appears his activation at that time is realistic.
