  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Nearing rehab assignment

Urias (quadriceps) recently dealt with some discomfort but is still scheduled to play in an extended spring training game Thursday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Urias' recovery from the quadriceps injury has been slow, so the recent discomfort is a worrying sign even if it won't affect his current progress. If all goes well Thursday, the 24-year-old could begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend.

  • Reds' Brandon Drury: Heads to bench Tuesday

Drury is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Drury started the past four games but will receive Tuesday off after going 1-for-12 with a double, two walks and four strikeouts. The 29-year-old should continue to see increased playing time while Jonathan India (hamstring) remains on the injured list.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Scratched with back tightness

Lux was removed from Tuesday's lineup versus Atlanta due to back tightness, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Lux was penciled in to start in left field but will instead remain on the bench due to a back issue. Cody Bellinger, who was slated to receive a day off Tuesday, will replace him in the lineup. Lux should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Shifts to injured list

India (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 16.

Manager David Bell previously said India wouldn't rejoin the starting lineup until at least Friday, so it's not a major surprise the second baseman will go on the injured list after missing the past four games with a strained right hamstring. The 25-year-old will be eligible to be activated for the April 26 matchup with San Diego since the transaction is backdated a few days, so he may only be out another week despite moving to the shelf. Brandon Drury and Alejo Lopez should see action at the keystone during his absence.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Won't return Wednesday

Altuve (hamstring) won't play Tuesday or Wednesday against the Angels, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve left Monday's game with a strained left hamstring and was sent for an MRI on Tuesday. The results of that test are not yet known, but he'll get at least three days off, as the Astros have a scheduled day off Thursday. Aledmys Diaz will likely receive another start at second base Wednesday.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Not starting Tuesday

Altuve (hamstring) will not start Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Altuve underwent an MRI on Tuesday after exiting Monday's game with a strained left hamstring. The results of that MRI are not yet public, but he'll evidently need to miss at least one game. Aledmys Diaz takes over at second base, the role he'd likely handle on an everyday basis if Altuve heads to the injured list.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Sits after nine straight starts

Torres is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

For the first time since Opening Day, Torres will move to the bench, ending a streak of nine consecutive starts. Though Torres has essentially served as the Yankees' everyday second baseman while DJ LeMahieu has moved about the infield, the former hasn't been able to take advantage of the consistent playing time. Over his nine starts, Torres went 5-for-31 (.161 average) with one home run and two RBI.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Heading for MRI

Altuve (hamstring) is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Altuve left Monday's game against the Angels with a strained left hamstring. Initial reports indicated that he was merely considered day-to-day, but his MRI could reveal a more serious issue. If that's the case, expect to see Aledmys Diaz step into a starting role at second base.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Red Sox's Jonathan Arauz: Heads to COVID-19 IL

The Red Sox placed Arauz on the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday.

Boston is dealing with a minor COVID-19 outbreak to close out its homestand. After catcher Kevin Plawecki tested positive for the virus Monday along with two staff members, backstop Christian Vazquez and Arauz were added to the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday. Arauz had previously made three consecutive starts at second base from April 10 through 12, but he's seen limited action off the bench in the subsequent five games after Trevor Story shook off an illness. Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe notes that Arauz is vaccinated, so he'll be eligible to join the Red Sox for next week's series in Toronto if he clears MLB's testing protocol in timely fashion.

  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Sits after four straight starts

Castro is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

After starting at shortstop in each of the previous four games, Castro will cede the position to Willi Castro in the series opener with the Yankees. Harold went 0-for-9 with four strikeouts over his most recent three starts, so it wouldn't be surprising if Willi ended up displacing him as the preferred option at the position while Javier Baez (thumb) is on the shelf.
