Nolan Gorman 2B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Could start rehab assignment soon
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Gorman (back) could begin a rehab assignment next week, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Gorman was placed on the 10-day injured list last weekend with a lower-back injury that first cropped up before the All-Star break. He was given a pain-killing injection Monday and has evidently responded well enough that he could be cleared for game action shortly. Because Gorman has not missed much time, his rehab assignment should be relatively brief, setting him up for an early-August return.

Christian Koss SS | SF
Giants' Christian Koss: Starts rehab assignment in Arizona
Koss (hamstring) began his rehab stint in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday, and he went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in the team's 7-3 win over the ACL Diamondbacks.
Koss played four innings at second base in his first rehab game, tallying two singles. The 27-year-old infielder was placed on the 10-day injured list July 1 due to a left hamstring strain. Before that, Koss had been solid as a reserve infielder for the Giants, slashing .265/.305/.357 with 12 runs scored, 12 RBI, two home runs and two stolen bases across 108 plate appearances.

Coco Montes 2B | TB
Rays' Coco Montes: Jettisoned from 40-man
The Rays designated Montes for assignment Saturday.
Montes never appeared in a game after being recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday, and he'll now be replaced on the active and 40-man rosters by the newly acquired Tristan Gray. Montes owns a .616 OPS through 272 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, though his defensive versatility could offer at least some appeal to teams browsing the waiver wire.

Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Homers in return to lineup
Estrada went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-5 win over the Orioles.

Jorbit Vivas 2B | WAS
Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Sent down to minors
The Yankees optioned Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
Vivas' most recent call-up came July 9 after DJ LeMahieu was DFA'd. Vivas had been trading off starts at third base with Oswald Peraza since, but the Yankees found a full-time starter at the hot corner Friday when they traded with Colorado for Ryan McMahon. In Vivas' most recent stint with the Yankees, he went 2-for-10 with an RBI over six games.

Christian Moore 2B | LAA
Angels' Christian Moore: Progressing in recovery
Moore (thumb) has started baseball activities, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Moore was called up by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake in mid-June and played in 18 games for the big club before landing on the IL in early July due to a left thumb sprain. His return to baseball activities is an encouraging sign, and the 23-year-old will look to progress enough in his recovery to swing a bat.

The Orioles selected the contract of Jackson from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The Red Sox recalled Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester on Friday.
The 27-year-old has been at Worcester for the past couple weeks but will rejoin Boston as Marcelo Mayer (wrist) heads to the injured list. Hamilton has a .505 OPS in 62 MLB games this season and is likely to serve as a reserve infielder while up with the big club.
