Bae was reassigned to minor-league camp Wednesday.

Bae worked with the major-league coaching staff to begin spring training but wasn't in contention for a spot on the big-league roster given his lack of experience in the minors. The 21-year-old appeared in 11 Grapefruit League games this year and went 2-for-11 with two runs, one RBI, one walk and three strikeouts.

Mendick was not in Tuesday's lineup for the first time in seven games as Nick Madrigal returned to action.

Madrigal had experienced residual soreness in his surgically repaired shoulder after making his spring debut March 8. Since then, Mendick has filled in at second base but moved back to the bench in favor of Madrigal. Mendick can move around the infield from second base to third base. He's 3-for-25 with one run scored in 12 spring games.

Castro has posted a .227/.261/.318 slash line through his first 22 Grapefruit League at-bats.

Castro hasn't done much in spring training but he was also quiet last spring before posting a .347/.407/.429 line across 22 regular-season games. The 27-year-old should secure a utility role with the Tigers this year, and he has the ability to play across the infield and in the outfield, giving him some fantasy upside if he's able to secure regular playing time at some point.

Marte was pulled from Tuesday's spring game against the Athletics due to left ankle soreness, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old apparently rolled his ankle while running the bases Tuesday, though manager Torey Lovullo indicated it's not a serious concern. Marte should be considered day-to-day, but at this point it doesn't appear his status for Opening Day should be affected by the injury.

Rosario made three errors in his first three innings in center field Tuesday against the Angels, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

There's a reason players typically try out new positions in spring training. Three bad innings isn't nearly a large enough sample to call the outfield experiment a failure for Rosario, but it's clear he has some things to work on. Cleveland appears to be preparing him for a utility role this season, opening up shortstop for Andres Gimenez.

Marte was replaced in center field by Daulton Varsho in Tuesday's game against the A's after possibly injuring himself running the bases, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Marte returned to the lineup Tuesday after getting hit on the foot by a pitch in Monday's game, so he may have aggravated that bruise.

Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

The 24-year-old infielder hit .176 with two doubles, a steal and a 6:7 K:BB in 17 at-bats during Grapefruit League play. Capable of playing at both second and third, Bannon will likely make his MLB debut at some point this season if he performs well at Triple-A.

Short was one of six Tigers demoted as the organization reduced its contingent at big-league camp to 42 men. The 25-year-old shortstop is expected to handle an everyday role at Toledo in 2021.

Polanco left Tuesday's game against the Pirates with left adductor tightness and is considered day-to-day, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The adductor is a muscle by the groin/thigh area, and if the tightness turns out to be a strain, Polanco's status for Opening Day would be in doubt. For now, it sounds like a day-to-day issue. His injury opens up more playing time for Luis Arraez in the short term.

McNeil has only one hit, a solo home run, in 18 at-bats through his first seven Grapefruit League appearances.

He's also had some defensive issues at third base, and his 0:4 BB:K could use some work. McNeil's starting job isn't in any jeopardy, however. He should spend most of his time at second base while hitting near the top of the order after beginning his big-league career with a .319/.383/.501 slash line across three seasons.
