  • Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Heading to bench Wednesday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Brujan has emerged as the Marlins' primary option at the keystone since Otto Lopez (back) was placed on the injured list last week. Though Jonah Bride will get the nod at second base Wednesday, Brujan had started in each of the previous seven games while going 3-for-23 with two doubles, one stolen base, four walks, six runs and two RBI.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Sitting versus southpaw

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

With lefty Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber for Washington, the lefty-hitting McNeil will bow out of the starting nine. Brandon Nimmo and Tyrone Taylor will serve as the Mets' starters in the corner outfield while Jose Iglesias gets the nod at second base.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Heads to bench against lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

With southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the hill for the Phillies, the lefty-hitting Lux will retreat to the bench. Chris Taylor will cover second base in Lux's stead.

  • Willi Castro LF | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Resting for second leg of twin bill

Castro is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Kyle Farmer will get the nod at second base in the nightcap after Castro manned the keystone in the Twins' 3-1 loss in Game 1, going 0-for-3 with a walk. Castro is on the bench for the first time since June 20, ending a streak of 17 consecutive starts.

  • Kyle Farmer 2B | COL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Rejoins lineup for doubleheader

Farmer (finger) will start at second base and bat ninth in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

Farmer hadn't played in either of the Twins' last two games after he exited the team's 3-2 win over the Astros on Sunday, when he was hit on the index finger by a pitch. The injury is apparently a non-issue at this point, however, as Farmer will head back into the starting nine for the second leg of the twin bill. The right-handed-hitting Farmer typically makes most of his starts against left-handed pitching, but he'll face off against White Sox righty Drew Thorpe on Wednesday.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | ARI

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Hitting bench for nightcap

Lopez is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Twins.

He'll cede his spot in the infield to Danny Mendick in the second leg of the twin bill. Lopez started at shortstop in the White Sox's 3-1 win in the first game of the day, going 0-for-3 at the dish.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Back in lineup

India (knee) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Wednesday's contest versus the Rockies.

India was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 12-6 win due to a left knee contusion, but he's feeling well enough to at least handle a non-defensive role Wednesday. The Reds will go with Santiago Espinal at India's usual spot at second base.

  • Jorge Polanco 2B | NYM

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: On base three times in win

Polanco went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

It was a rare multi-hit effort for the struggling veteran, who'd last accomplished that feat May 4. Polanco had been mired in a 1-for-12 skid over the previous four games entering Tuesday, a brief but nightmarish stretch where he'd struck out in eight of his 14 plate appearances. Polanco's season slash line still stands at a career-worst .196/.288/.289, and with the sample size now having grown to 219 plate appearances, it's fair to wonder how much improvement it will realistically see over the remainder of the season.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Not in lineup for early game

Massey is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in St. Louis.

Massey will likely be back in the starting nine for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll get a breather in the early contest. Maikel Garcia will start at second base in Massey's stead.

  • Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Resumes baseball activity

Kiner-Falefa (knee) began doing some light running and throwing Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tuesday marks the first time Kiner-Falefa has participated in any sort of baseball activity since he landed on the injured list last week due to a sprained left knee. He still has a few boxes to check off before being cleared to return to game action and may also require a minor-league rehab assignment, but the 29-year-old seems to be trending in the right direction.
