  • Jorge Polanco 2B | NYM

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Productive third rehab game

Polanco (hamstring) shifted his rehab assignment to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, playing seven innings at second base and going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run in a loss to Las Vegas.

It was a feel-good night all around for Polanco within the context of his recovery, as he handled the bump up in affiliate from High-A Everett well and logged his longest time on the field yet over his first three minor-league games. The veteran infielder is likely due for at least one more outing with the Rainiers before activation is considered, and in addition to the apparently improved condition of his previously ailing hamstring, it's encouraging Polanco has reached safely in all three rehab games thus far.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Drawing fifth straight start

Schneemann will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Schneemann will make his fifth straight start and will occupy his third different position over that span. The utility player has already been used at six different positions since being called up at the beginning of the month and is maintaining a 1.115 OPS over his first 33 big-league plate appearances.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Set for rehab assignment

Clemens (back) will begin a rehab assignment later this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Gelb notes that Clemens is set to receive regular reps in left field while on his rehab assignment. It's a position he's played a little bit both in the majors and minors, and it now looks like his best path to playing time in the majors with Brandon Marsh slated to see most of his starts in center field following Johan Rojas' demotion to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Clemens has been out since early June with lower-back spasms.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Swipes bag in loss

Mateo went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees.

Mateo remains in a slump -- he's 0-for-10 over his last four games -- but he's picked up two steals over six contests since he returned from a concussion. With Jordan Westburg (hip) leaving Tuesday's game early, Mateo's playing time could rise in the short term if his teammate is forced to miss additional games. Mateo is at a .231/.280/.431 slash line with four home runs, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored and 12 steals across 48 contests this season.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: Activated and optioned

The Pirates reinstated Williams (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Pittsburgh will keep Jared Triolo on hand as its lone reserve infielder while Williams reports to the Triple-A club now that he's made a full recovery from the right wrist sprain that initially sent him to the IL on June 2. Williams had already been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Indianapolis, going 3-for-11 at the plate over three games.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Provides early lift

Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over Washington.

Marte got it started early with a two-run home run in the first inning. He later plated a run on a sacrifice fly. While he's had a good season to date -- one that's generating All-Star buzz from Arizona Sports -- Marte can be even more productive if Corbin Carroll's bat stays hot ahead of him in the lineup. Carroll's batting .340 over the last 12 games, and Marte has driven in 10 runs during that stretch. For the season, Marte has an .863 OPS, 15 home runs, 42 RBI, three steals and 50 runs scored.

  • Nick Loftin 1B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Lifts first big-league homer

Loftin went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Athletics.

Loftin hit his first career homer off Hogan Harris in the second inning, tying the game at 2-2. While Loftin has seen steady run at second base, he entered Tuesday on an 0-for-14 skid that could jeopardize his playing time. He's slashing .253/.351/.304 with 12 RBI, 13 runs scored and no stolen bases over 95 plate appearances this season. Michael Massey (back) began a rehab assignment Tuesday, so Loftin's time in a starting role -- and potentially in the majors -- could come to a close when Massey is ready to return to the Royals.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Fills box score Tuesday

Gelof went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, one stolen base and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Royals.

Gelof took Alec Marsh deep in the fourth inning to provide the Athletics with enough offense to weather the Royals' comeback attempt. This was Gelof's third multi-hit effort in his last seven games, though the homer was his first since June 5. The second baseman is starting to put together better at-bats, but he's still at a .195/.250/.335 slash line with six homers, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 54 contests this season.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Takes BP on Monday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Clemens (back) is "getting pretty close" to a return from the 10-day injured list after taking batting practice Monday, MLB.com reports.

Clemens has been on the shelf since June 3, one day after being scratched from the lineup ahead of the Phillies' game against the Cardinals after his bat locked up on him during batting practice. He could go out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated from the IL.

  • Cubs' Miles Mastrobuoni: Back in big leagues

Mastrobuoni was called up from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Mastrobuoni will return to the major-league roster after being sent down May 20, replacing Mike Tauchman (groin) with the Cubs after Tauchman was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Mastrobuoni produced a .264 average with three home runs, 14 RBI, 16 runs scored and four stolen bases over 87 at-bats in 22 games with Iowa since his demotion.
