  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Delivers two runs in loss

Marte went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.

Marte plated a couple of runs on sacrifice flies and has three RBI through the first five games. He's cooled off following two three-hit games to open the season, but Marte's getting on base with regularity (.417 OBP) early on and is tied for the team lead with six runs scored.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Smacks homer among three hits

Donovan went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, a walk and three total runs in a 6-2 win against the Padres on Monday.

Donovan capped the scoring for St. Louis with a two-run blast to right field in the sixth inning. He added a single and a double for his first multi-hit game of the campaign. Prior to Monday, Donovan had gone just 2-for-18 with six strikeouts, but he has batted leadoff while starting in left field for each of St. Louis' five games so far, so he appears to be set in that role.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Reaches base five times

Arraez went 2-for-2 with three walks and a run scored during Monday's loss to the Angels.

Arraez had an uncharacteristic opening series against the Pirates, going just 2-for-18 in the four-game set. Monday's performance was his first multi-hit effort of the year and looked much more like the elite bat-to-ball star that fantasy managers are used to. He's registered a .360 OBP through five games despite the slow start.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Close to rehab assignment

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Monday that Massey (back) is on track to go on a rehab assignment this week, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Massey was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday after experiencing lower-back tightness at the tail end of spring training. The 26-year-old infielder has since resumed playing in sim games at extended spring training in Arizona, and he appears to be progressing well enough to test himself in an uncontrolled setting this week.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Sitting out Monday

McNeil is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Tigers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McNeil went just 1-for-11 at the dish as the Mets were swept by the Brewers over the weekend, so he'll get a breather for this one. Joey Wendle will draw the start at second base and Francisco Alvarez will move up to the cleanup spot.

  • Phillies' Whit Merrifield: Drawing another start versus lefty

Merrifield is starting in left field and batting eighth for Monday's contest versus the Reds, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Merrifield wasn't in the lineup on Opening Day, but he's started each of the last three contests with the Phillies going up against three straight southpaws. Brandon Marsh is shifting over to center field while Merrifield plays left.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Taking seat on Monday

Caballero is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Caballero started all four contests in the Rays' season-opening series with the Blue Jays and reached base six times, but he'll receive a day off Monday. Amed Rosario will start at shortstop and bat cleanup in place of Caballero.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Nabs first steal

Torres went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 victory versus the Astros.

Torres used his legs to help generate the game-winning run, following a two-out, ninth-inning single with a swipe of second base before sprinting home on a Juan Soto single to left field. The theft was Torres' first of the campaign as he seeks to reach double-digit steals for the third straight year. The second baseman is off to a slow start to the campaign otherwise, however, slashing just .133/.316/.133 without an extra-base hit through 19 plate appearances.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Out versus southpaw

Garcia is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Pirates, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

The Nationals are facing their first left-hander of the season in Marco Gonzales, so the lefty-hitting Garcia will take a seat for the first time. Ildemaro Vargas will handle second base in his place.

  • Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Socks first homer of year

Schneider went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Making his first start of the season with Tyler Alexander set as the bulk pitcher for Tampa Bay, Schneider ripped an 88.8 mph fastball from the southpaw in the fifth inning over the left-field fence. The 25-year-old was expected to see the majority of his playing time this season at second base, either in a platoon or a timeshare with Cavan Biggio, but Schneider got the start in left field Sunday while Biggio was in right and Isiah Kiner-Falefa shifted to the keystone. The Blue Jays have a lot of moving parts in their lineup, but if Schneider gets hot at the plate, he'll get consistent playing time.
