Brooks Baldwin 2B | CHW
White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: On base four times in loss
Baldwin went 2-for-2 with two walks, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Giants.
Baldwin struggled over the weekend against the Astros, going 0-for-6 over two games. He bounced back well Monday, earning his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 6 while also notching his third steal of the year. The infielder is now at a .222/.271/.356 slash line with two home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored and six doubles through his first 96 plate appearances in the majors. With the White Sox going nowhere this year, Baldwin figures to get plenty of experience down the stretch.

Thairo Estrada 2B | SF
Giants' Thairo Estrada: One hit in return
Estrada (wrist) went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.
Estrada was part of the Giants' fifth-inning rally, scoring the team's first run on a Curt Casali single. This was Estrada's first game since July 25 after he missed time with a left wrist sprain. He should resume a role as the Giants' primary second baseman, as Casey Schmitt is hitting just .176 in August. Estrada has a poor .216/.249/.351 slash line with nine home runs, 43 RBI, 42 runs scored, one stolen base and 14 doubles over 88 contests this year.

Tommy Edman CF | LAD
Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Activated from 60-day IL
Edman (wrist) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Edman is now officially geared up for his season and team debut. The 29-year-old has been sidelined for the entirety of the 2024 campaign while working his way back from wrist surgery and an ankle sprain. Edman was traded to the Dodgers on July 29 and he has produced a .294 average with a home run, four RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base over 17 at-bats in six games with Triple-A Oklahoma while on a rehab assignment. Andy Pages was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move Monday, freeing up a spot for Edman in the outfield, where he's expected to see the majority of his playing time.

Brett Wisely 2B | SF
Giants' Brett Wisely: Dispatched to Sacramento
The Giants optioned Wisely to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
San Francisco reinstated Thairo Estrada (wrist) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Wisely has been with the big club since May, but he saw his playing time diminish since the All-Star break while slashed .167/.207/.204 with six RBI across 56 plate appearances in the second half. Wisely should take back an everyday role as he returns to Sacramento.

Thairo Estrada 2B | SF
Giants' Thairo Estrada: Reinstated from injured list
The Giants activated Estrada (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Estrada missed the last three-plus weeks with a left wrist sprain but is ready to go after a five-game rehab stint which saw him go 9-for-21 with one home run. He's starting at second base and batting eighth Monday versus the White Sox in his return to action. Brett Wisely was sent down to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Lands on IL with sprained ankle
The Diamondbacks placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Monday with a sprained left ankle.
Marte initially injured the ankle more than a week ago and has been in and out of the lineup since then. He aggravated the injury during a pinch-hit appearance Sunday versus the Rays, and the Diamondbacks have finally decided to make a roster move with the 30-year-old. No imaging is planned for Marte, per Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, and he could have a good chance to return from the IL on Aug. 29 when his 10 days are up. Kevin Newman and Blaze Alexander should fill in at second base while Marte is sidelined.
-
Jeff McNeil 2B | NYM
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Idle against lefty
McNeil is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Baltimore.
McNeil will avoid a matchup with southpaw Trevor Rogers on Monday, yielding to Jose Iglesias at second base. McNeil is 12-for-46 (.261) with three homers and five doubles in August.

Ignacio Alvarez 2B | ATL
Braves' Nacho Alvarez: Out at Triple-A with pneumonia
Alvarez has not played for Triple-A Gwinnett since Aug. 14 while battling pneumonia, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
If healthy, Alvarez would have been a candidate to get a call-up to Atlanta and see time at third base while Austin Riley (hand) is sidelined. However, he's currently unavailable due to the illness, and it's not clear when Alvarez will be ready to play again for Gwinnett. Alvarez went just 3-for-30 with a 10:0 K:BB over eight games in an earlier stint with the big club in July.

Gavin Lux 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Remains hot Sunday
Lux went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles against St. Louis in Sunday's 2-1 victory.
Lux notched two of the Dodgers' three extra-base hits in the win and recorded his third multi-hit performance over his past four games. The second baseman struggled early in the season, but since the All-Star break he's blossomed with a .367/.431/.644 slash line, five homers, 10 doubles, 19 RBI, 14 runs and a steal through 28 games. There was a point during Mookie Betts' recent absence that the Dodgers considered moving Betts to second base upon his return, but the team has since returned the All-Star to right field, leaving Lux in an everyday role in the middle infield.

Connor Norby 3B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Called up by Miami
The Marlins recalled Norby from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Norby was surprisingly sent to Jacksonville after the Marlins acquired him at the trade deadline from the Orioles, but he's now joined the big club and should be set for an everyday role. The 24-year-old had mostly played third base at Jacksonville of late and that's likely where he'll see the bulk of his starts with the Marlins for now, although he's capable of handling second base and the corner outfield spots, as well.
