White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Hitless in White Sox debut

Andrus went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Friday against the Guardians.

Andrus signed with the White Sox on Thursday and started at shortstop while hitting seventh Friday. He is likely to have consistent playing time in the short term with Tim Anderson (hand) and Leury Garcia (back) both currently on the injured list. However, Andrus isn't likely to do much with the opportunity, as he's slashed only .235/.297/.369 across 390 plate appearances on the season.

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Swipes bag, drives in two

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-2 win over the White Sox.

  • Mauricio Dubon SS | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Dealing with elbow discomfort

Dubon was diagnosed with left elbow discomfort after leaving Friday's game against Atlanta, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Dubon sustained the injury while attempting to make a catch at the outfield wall. He didn't start Friday but replaced Yordan Alvarez (illness) during the fifth inning and lined out in his lone plate appearance. X-rays on Dubon's elbow came back negative, per Rome, and he should be considered day-to-day.

  • Mauricio Dubon SS | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Leaves with injury

Dubon was removed from Friday's game against Atlanta with an apparent left shoulder injury, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The 28-year-old entered during the fifth inning and suffered the injury while attempting to make a catch at the outfield wall. Dubon initially remained in the contest but was lifted one batter later and was in visible pain. He should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: On bench versus lefty

Gorman is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Arizona, Bally Sports Midwest reports.

Gormon is in the midst of a six-game hit streak during which he's gone 8-for-24 with a home run, three doubles, five RBI and eight runs, but he'll take a seat Friday with southpaw Tommy Henry pitching for the Diamondbacks. Albert Pujols will bat fifth as the designated hitter in the series opener.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Back in action Friday

Polanco (knee) is starting at second base and batting sixth Friday against the Rangers.

The 29-year-old sat out the last two games after suffering the knee injury Monday in Kansas City, but he's apparently good to go after Minnesota's scheduled day off Thursday. Polanco has struggled in 20 games since the All-Star break with a .200/.307/.293 slash line.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Takes seat Friday

Kemp isn't starting Friday against the Mariners.

Kemp went 0-for-3 with a walk during Thursday's loss to the Rangers and will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games with left-hander Marco Gonzales on the mound for the Mariners. Chad Pinder is starting in left field and batting cleanup.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Not starting Friday

Espinal is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

Espinal started the past three games and will take a seat after going 5-for-10 with a double, a walk, three RBI and a run scored. The 27-year-old has remained the preferred option at second base despite the acquisition of Whit Merrifield at the trade deadline, though Merrifield has spent a lot of time in center field in place of George Springer (knee). Cavan Biggio is starting at the keystone and batting eighth.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

    Giants' Thairo Estrada: Sitting Friday

Estrada is not in Friday's lineup against the Rockies.
