Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Nursing elbow injury

Chisholm will undergo imaging Tuesday after suffering a left elbow injury during Monday's game against the White Sox, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Chisholm picked up the injury in the fifth inning on a slide at the plate, and he was lifted right before his turn to bat in the seventh. Oswaldo Cabrera or DJ LeMahieu could start at third base Tuesday if Chisholm can't go.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Set to join big-league club

The Rays plan to recall Caminero from Triple-A Durham ahead of Tuesday's game against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Caminero missed a good chunk of the season at Triple-A while dealing with a quadricep injury, but he was activated from the 7-day injured list July 19 and is now on his way to join the big-league club. Prior to Monday's promotion, he was batting .276 with 13 home runs, 34 RBI, one stolen base and 33 runs scored in 53 games for Durham. Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Exits early Monday

Chisholm was removed from Monday's game against the White Sox due to an apparent left arm/shoulder injury, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Ben Rice pinch hit for Chisholm in the seventh inning and Hoch notes that the broadcast captured video of the 26-year-old moving his arm around in the dugout after scoring in the fifth. The team has yet to reveal any additional details on Chisholm's injury, so he'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.

LeMahieu will start at first base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the White Sox.

LeMahieu will remain in the lineup for the fourth time in five games, but all four starts have come against left-handed pitching. The Yankees are seemingly viewing LeMahieu as a short-side platoon player these days with left-handed hitters Ben Rice and Jazz Chisholm holding down the fort at the two corner-infield spots.

Bregman's second long ball in as many days traveled 441 feet and gave the Astros a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning. He has tallied a ridiculous 12 hits, three homers and nine runs scored during his current six-game hit streak. On the season, the third baseman is hitting .260 with 17 home runs, 57 RBI and 62 runs scored across 495 plate appearances.

He's up to 31 long balls, 97 RBI, 86 runs scored, 25 stolen bases and a .280/.331/.543 slash line through 115 contests this year. He trails only Aaron Judge (106) in RBI so far in 2024.
