Vargas will start at second base and serve as the Diamondbacks' leadoff hitter Wednesday against the Padres.

Jarrod Dyson will check out of the lineup with a lefty (Eric Lauer) on the bump for San Diego, opening the door for Vargas to set the table for the second time this season. The leadoff assignment gives Vargas some more intrigue than usual for DFS purposes, though it's worth noting he's only been a career .218/.227/.333 (43 wRC+) hitter in his limited opportunities to date at the MLB level.

Escobar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to San Diego on Tuesday.

Escobar launched a shot to left field off Matt Strahm to put the Diamondbacks on the board in the fourth inning. He has largely flown under the radar this season but now has as many homers (11) as fellow third basemen Kris Bryant and Nolan Arenado. The 30-year-old has built on last season's performance and now has a slash line of .274/.341/.543.

Duffy (hamstring) started in left field in Triple-A Durham's win over Norfolk on Tuesday and went 0-for-4 before being replaced for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning.

It was yet another important step in the recovery process for Duffy, who's played third base, shortstop, designated hitter, and now, left field, during his rehab. The veteran hasn't had much success at the plate in his minor-league outings, but of greater importance is that his balky hamstring has passed all of the tests it's been put through. The earliest date Duffy can come off the injured list is next Monday.

Devers went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during a 10-3 loss against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Devers is 5-for-8 with two home runs and four RBI to open the series against the Blue Jays. That has raised his average to .320 and his on-base percentage to .390. Devers has posted a .862 OPS with five home runs, 26 RBI, 32 runs and six stolen bases in 178 at-bats this season.

Anderson went 2-for4 with a double, a home run and two RBI on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Anderson played a large role in the Marlins' victory Tuesday, hitting a sacrifice fly in the first inning and following that up with a solo homer in the seventh inning. With just a .335 slugging percentage across 189 plate appearances, power production from Anderson has been rare. He's hitting a disappointing .234, thanks largely to an increased strikeout rate.

Davis went 1-for-1 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Nationals.

Davis hit for Zack Wheeler in the seventh inning and delivered a three-run shot to put the Mets up 4-3. It was his fifth homer of the season and second in his past five appearances. He remains the team's primary option at third base, though he was relieved by Todd Frazier for Tuesday's contest. Davis has given the Mets few reasons to keep him out of the lineup with his early-season performance, hitting .283/.356/.472 across 118 plate appearances.

Vargas was recalled from Triple-A Reno prior to Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Vargas was sent to Reno earlier in May after struggling over his month-long stint in the majors with a .204/.204/.306 slash line in 49 at-bats. The 27-year-old should once again serve as a reserve infielder for the Diamondbacks. Wilmer Flores (foot) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs in the Yankees' 11-4 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

This was the third straight multi-hit performance for LeMahieu, raising his average to .325 through 166 at-bats. He exited the game after fouling a ball off his foot, but he's reportedly fine, per Brendan Kuty of The Star-Ledger. LeMahieu still hasn't provided much power with just three home runs, but he does have 10 doubles, so his .440 slugging percentage remains respectable. His strong contact-hitting abilities should allow him to remain a reliable batting average asset throughout the season, and he should also score plenty of runs hitting atop the Yankees' order.

Duffy (hamstring) will play left field during Tuesday's rehab game with Triple-A Durham, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

It seems like the Rays are preparing Duffy for a utility role once he comes off the 60-day injured list. He has also played shortstop in addition to his natural position of third base during this rehab stint. Duffy hit .250/.478/.563 with one home run in 16 at-bats while rehabbing with High-A Tampa.

Davis is not starting Tuesday against Washington.

Davis' .276/.345/.438 season slash line is far better than Todd Frazier's .203/.239/.344 line, but the pair continues to split time at third base. Frazier will get the call for Tuesday's game.
