Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe will be reinstated from the paternity list before the game Saturday against visiting Seattle, per ESPN.

Plouffe, who has been out since Tuesday, will return with a slash line of .257/.316/.456.

Josh Donaldson continues to produce for the Blue Jays, as the third baseman cracked his 25th homer of the season to cap the scoring as Toronto picked up a 5-2 win over the Royals on Wednesday. 

Donaldson's fourth-inning homer went to deep left-center, and with protection in the new-look Toronto lineup from Troy Tulowitzki and Jose Bautista, Donaldson went 2-for-3 with a walk. 

Donaldson has six home runs and 19 RBIs in July. 

Second baseman DJ LeMahieu's hitting streak ended at 18 games, as he went 0 for 4 in the Rockies' 3-2 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.

LeMahieu's streak was the longest active in the majors. He had gone 32 for 72 with five doubles, two triples and nine RBI over the streak. He raised his season average up from .300 to .324 over the 18-game stretch.

The Twins will place third baseman Trevor Plouffe on paternity leave, according to MLB.com. 

To replace Plouffe on the roster, the Twins will recall infielder Jorge Polanco from Triple-A Rochester.

Polanco is hitting .284 at Rochester. 

Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. 

LeMahieu hit his 15th double and fourth triple of the season, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. 

LeMahieu extended his hitting streak to 18 straight, the longest current streak in MLB. He's hitting .444 over the streak. 

The Pirates are telling teams they are likely to keep first baseman Pedro Alvarez, according to ESPN.

Alvarez is under team control for one more season and isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2016 campagin.

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura was a late scratch from the lineup for Sunday's game. 

Segura was pulled from the lineup with a sore throat, the team announced. Segura had started the last 18 games at short. 

He'll be replaced by Hector Gomez, who gets his sixth start of the season. 

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado returned to the starting lineup on Sunday. 

Arenado was forced out of Saturday's game in the ninth inning, after getting hit by a pitch. He was considered day-to-day after X-rays on his hand were negative. 

Indians third baseman Giovanny Urshela isn't in the starting lineup for Sunday's game. 

Mike Aviles gets the call in Urshela's place. It's his third start in seven games and 15th of the season. 

Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas isn't in the starting lineup for Sunday's game. 

Moustakas has started 85 games at third, including the last eight. He'll be replaced by Chelsor Cuthbert , who gets his fifth start of the season at third base.
