  • Marcelo Mayer SS | BOS

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: Sent to 60-day IL

The Red Sox transferred Mayer (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Mayer is out for the season after undergoing a right wrist arthroscopy last month, so his move to the 60-day injured list is merely a formality. The transaction clears room on the 40-man roster for catcher Ali Sanchez, whom the Red Sox acquired in a trade with the Mets on Sunday.

  • Orlando Arcia 3B | COL

Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Working in reserve role

Arcia went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday against the Cubs.

Arcia has started every other game across Colorado's last six contests, filling in primarily at second base. He drew a start at third base Sunday and delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning. Arcia has gone 8-for-23 with five RBI and three runs scored since returning from the injured list Aug. 17.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Reds' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Hitting better than expected

Hayes went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Cardinals.

Hayes had a couple of run-scoring singles in the game and is doing his best to dispel the notion that he's all glove and no bat. Since joining the Reds at the trade deadline, Hayes has a .756 OPS with 10 extra-base hits (three home runs), nine RBI, two steals and 12 runs scored over 28 games. One thing to monitor is how the Reds plan to use top prospect and third baseman Sal Stewart, who is expected to be called up Monday. Stewart may play some third base, but he's recently been given work at second base and is an ideal fit at DH.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

    Rangers' Josh Jung: Keeps raking

Jung went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double during Sunday's 9-6 win over the Athletics.

Jung has a hit in eight consecutive games and has notched multiple hits six times during that stretch. He's recorded two homers along with three doubles and is 17-for-34 (.500) across those eight games. The third baseman endured a 5-for-43 (.116) slump immediately before catching fire.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Doesn't expect to miss time

Chapman left Sunday's win over the Orioles early after fouling a ball off his left shin/foot, but he's "fine" and expects to be in the starting lineup Monday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

San Francisco was ahead 8-0 in the sixth inning at the time of Chapman's removal, and he was able to complete his plate appearance before being pulled, so it appears the third baseman's exit was precautionary. Nonetheless, fantasy managers who roster Chapman may be best served by keeping an eye on the Giants' lineup Monday to make sure the team does indeed give him the go-ahead to play.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Exits early with possible injury

Chapman was pulled from Sunday's game against Baltimore after fouling a ball off his left shin/foot, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Chapman was in clear pain after the foul ball, but he remained in the game and worked a walk. However, he was subsequently replaced at first base by Casey Schmitt. The Giants were up 8-0 in the sixth inning at the time Chapman departed, so it's possible his removal was simply precautionary. San Francisco may provide an update on the veteran third baseman after he gets looked at.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Won't return during road trip

Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Muncy (oblique/illness) won't return during the Dodgers upcoming road trip, which runs Sept. 2-7, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The third baseman appeared on track to rejoin the Dodgers at the start of September, but he's recently dealt with a chest cold that will delay his return. Assuming there's no additional issues, Muncy could be back on the active roster for the start of the next homestand versus the Rockies on Sept. 8.

  • Curtis Mead 3B | CHW

White Sox's Curtis Mead: Taking control at hot corner

Mead will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Mead will be making his fourth consecutive start after going 2-for-11 with a double and two runs over the previous three contests. The 24-year-old should be in line for a near-everyday role at the hot corner while Miguel Vargas (hand) is on the injured list.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat versus lefty

McMahon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

McMahon will exit the starting nine while the White Sox send southpaw Martin Perez to the hill. Amed Rosario will replace McMahon at third base.

  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Marlins' Connor Norby: Taking Sunday off

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Norby will get a breather after returning from the injured list Friday and starting two straight games, going 3-for-7 with two doubles, two walks, three RBI and three runs. Javier Sanoja will cover third base Sunday.
