  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Set to begin rehab assignment

Reds manager David Bell said Monday that Marte (suspension) is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment June 11, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Marte is nearing the end of his 80-game suspension due to violating MLB's joint drug prevention and treatment program. After ramping up his activity in the Dominican Republic, Marte will travel to the United States and will likely begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Bell noted that Marte will mostly play third base in his assignment, but the 22-year-old will also get some reps at shortstop and second base. Marte is eligible to return from his suspension June 27.

  • Matt Vierling RF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Getting rest Monday

Vierling is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Vierling will get a breather for the series opener, despite being one of the hottest hitters in the Detroit lineup at the moment. While starting each of the last seven games, Vierling recorded at least one hit and produced a .438/.455/.906 slash line overall. The 27-year-old should have a hold on a near-everyday role while he's sizzling at the plate, but his absence from the lineup Monday will open up a spot in the outfield for Akil Baddoo.

  • Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN

Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Taken off IL

Kreidler (finger) was activated off the 7-day injured list Monday and will rejoin Triple-A Toledo, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Kreidler was placed on the injured list April 7 due to a fractured right index finger. He began his rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on May 22, going 2-for-20 with 11 strikeouts over seven games.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Added to roster, in lineup Monday

The Tigers selected Malloy's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Monday. He'll start at designated hitter and will bat sixth Monday against the Rangers in his MLB debut.

The 24-year-old has slashed .253/.410/.473 with six home runs and three stolen bases over 195 plate appearances this season with Toledo. Malloy has made a full-time move to the outfield in 2024 after previously spending some time at the infield corners. The right-handed batter should receive at least semi-regular starts between the corner outfield and DH.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Rare day off Monday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Reds, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

McMahon will get a breather for just the second time all season as the Rockies open up a three-game set with the Reds. Alan Trejo will receive a start at third base Monday against lefty Andrew Abbott while McMahon rests up.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers, triples in losing effort

Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple, two RBI and a walk Sunday against the Tigers.

Devers' third-inning triple plated a run, while his solo blast in the eighth knotted the game at four and set the stage for extra innings. It was the second triple and 11th homer of the season for Devers, who entered the game in a mini 1-for-10 slump since accumulating four hits against the Orioles on Tuesday. It was also the first dinger for Devers since hitting a homer in six consecutive games from May 15-20.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Bat remains hot

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Twins.

Bregman is starting to heat up, collecting his fourth homer in six games along with adding his fifth multi-hit effort over the last eight. Sunday's performance lifted Bregman's slash line to .229/.287/.395 while during this recent eight-game run he's batting 12-for-32 (.375) with four homers, seven RBI and five runs scored.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Homers, doubles in game-winner

Miranda went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored Sunday against the Astros.

Miranda collected his 10th multi-hit game of the season, homering in the sixth to knot the game at three, then adding a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth that served as the game-winner for the Twins. After struggling to a .211 average in 40 games last season, Miranda has fared much better this season, posting a slash line of .280/.311/.469 with six homers, nine doubles, 20 RBI and 19 runs through 151 plate appearances.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not yet swinging

Muncy (oblique) said Sunday he's been shut down from swinging for the past 7-to-10 days after he felt a "twinge" around his rib cage, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 33-year-old landed on the injured list in mid-May with the oblique strain and doesn't appear to have made significant progress in his recovery. Per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Muncy was able to field groundballs Sunday but is shut down from most baseball activities, so he's likely not particularly close to returning from the 10-day injured list.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Moving into reserve role

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Since DJ LeMahieu returned from the injured list Tuesday to make his season debut, Cabrera has unsurprisingly been the odd man out of the New York lineup more often than not. He's made just two starts in the six games since LeMahieu's return and appears set to fill a utility role moving forward after holding down the fort at third base for much of the past two months.
