  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

    Nick Senzel: Non-tendered by Cincinnati

Senzel was non-tendered by the Reds on Friday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Senzel went as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft and showed well in his rookie season in 2019, but he's now 28 years old and has slashed just .232/.296/.344 over his last 273 games dating back to the beginning of the 2020 campaign. He'll look to revitalize his career with a new organization.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Dealt to A's

The Brewers traded Toro to Oakland on Wednesday in exchange for Chad Patrick, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Toro slashed .291/.374/.471 across 414 plate appearances at Triple-A Nashville last season, and he made the most of his limited opportunities in the majors by going 8-for-18 with two homers and nine RBI. Toro's switch-hitting bat and ability to cover every base could go a long way when competing for a spot on the Athletics' Opening Day roster.

  • Austin Shenton 1B | SEA

Rays' Austin Shenton: Selected to 40-man roster

The Rays selected Shenton to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Shenton put up an impressive .304/.423/.584 batting line with 29 home runs and 99 RBI over 134 games this past season between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. The 25-year-old corner infielder looks poised to make his major-league debut in the early part of the 2024 season.

  • Irving Lopez 3B | STL

    Irving Lopez: Becomes free agent

Lopez elected to become a free agent Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Lopez was outrighted off the Cardinals' 40-man roster at the end of October. The 28-year-old infielder has logged only 12 career plate appearances at the MLB level, all with St. Louis in 2023, and has yet to record a big-league hit.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Playing multiple positions possible

White Sox general manager Chris Getz on Tuesday wouldn't rule out Moncada playing multiple positions in 2024, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

"I think he is capable of playing different positions," Getz said of Moncada. "He's played some second base with us. I think he's a better third baseman than second baseman. That doesn't mean there aren't going to be some days where perhaps he goes over to second base or plays first base and perhaps even the outfield. We'll do what's best for our club." Duber cautions that "the expectation is still that Moncada will be the White Sox's everyday third baseman in 2024." However, it it sounds like he could bounce around a bit if the situation calls for it. Moncada has been used exclusively at third base since 2019.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: Recovering from knee surgery

Maton recently required arthroscopic surgery to address discomfort in his left knee, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

It was a fairly minor procedure and the current expectation is that Maton will be fully recovered by the start of spring training in February. The 26-year-old batted just .173/.288/.305 across 293 major-league plate appearances with the Tigers in 2023, but he drew 41 starts at third base, 19 starts at second base and even one start at shortstop.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Jason Vosler: Lands on open market

Vosler elected to become a free agent Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Vosler made the Reds' Opening Day roster out of camp this past spring, but he was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville before the end of April after slashing just .161/.200/.371 with 25 strikeouts across 65 plate appearances. The 30-year-old corner infielder will probably have to settle for a minor-league contract leading into the 2024 campaign.

  • Eduardo Escobar: Team option declined

The Angels declined Escobar's $9 million team option for 2024 on Friday.

After slashing just .226/.269/.344 across 309 plate appearances between the Mets and Angels, passing on Escobar's $9 million option was likely an easy decision for the Halos. Escobar will turn 35 in January and will likely have to settle for a bench role with his new organization, if he's even able to secure a major-league contract.

  • Vinny Capra 3B | BOS

Brewers' Vinny Capra: Claimed by Milwaukee

The Brewers claimed Capra off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday.

Capra, 27, has logged only 28 career plate appearances at the major-league level, but he put up an encouraging .329/.412/.439 batting line over 49 games with the Triple-A affiliate of the Pirates in 2023. He'll function as organizational infield depth for Milwaukee.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Inks two-year extension

Muncy signed a two-year, $24 million contract extension with the Dodgers on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Muncy already had a $14 million club option for the 2024 season, but the Dodgers will instead give him a new deal that keeps the 33-year-old slugger in Los Angeles through 2025 with a $10 million club option for 2026. Muncy slashed .212/.333/.475 across 482 plate appearances in 2023 while recording personal bests in home runs (36) and RBI (105).
