  • Jordan Diaz 3B | ATH

    Athletics' Jordan Diaz: Idle Friday

Diaz isn't in the Athletics' lineup Friday against Detroit.

Diaz will sit out Friday's contest after going 4-for-30 over his last 10 games. Kevin Smith will take over at third base and bat seventh.

  • Angels' Eduardo Escobar: Sits down Friday

Escobar isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday against the Twins, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Escobar broke his 0-for-13 stretch at the plate with a hit during Thursday's loss against Tampa Bay, and he'll get a breather for Friday's series opener. Michael Stefanic will start at third base and bat ninth.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Shut down with back spasms

The Cardinals placed Arenado on the 10-day injured list Friday with lower-back spasms.

This will wind up being a season-ending issue for the 32-year-old third baseman, who finishes with a .266/.315/.459 slash line, 26 home runs, 26 doubles and 93 RBI in 144 games. Jose Fermin, Juniel Querecuto and Irving Lopez are available to fill in at the hot corner over the Cardinals' final nine games.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Placed on injured list

The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Lewis had to be taken out of Tuesday's game after tweaking his hamstring, and an MRI revealed a strain that will keep him out until at least the final day of the season, though there's no guarantee he'll be ready to play by then. Jordan Luplow will return to Minnesota to replace Lewis on the active roster.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Not in Friday's lineup

Caminero is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Blue Jays, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Caminero was promoted from Double-A Montgomery to the big leagues Friday, but he will have to wait to make his first start. Being on the bench wouldn't seem to be a great sign for his playing time outlook down the stretch, although Tampa Bay could just want to give the top prospect a day to settle in. Curtis Mead is at third base Friday and Osleivis Basabe is handling shortstop.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Absent from lineup

LeMahieu is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

It looks to be a routine day off after LeMahieu had started each of the previous seven contests. Jake Bauers is handling first base and Estevan Florial has been elevated to the leadoff spot.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Marlins' Jake Burger: In lineup Friday

Burger (quad) is in the lineup for the Marlins' series opener versus the Brewers on Friday.

Burger had to be removed from Wednesday's contest against the Mets with right quad tightness, but he won't have to miss any starts after getting an off day Thursday to recover. The slugger is playing third base and batting fifth for the Marlins on Friday.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Promotion made official

The Rays selected Caminero's contract from Double-A Montgomery on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

One of the top prospects in all of baseball, Caminero will skip the Triple-A level and report to the big leagues after turning 20 in July. He earned the promotion by slashing .324/.384/.591 with 31 home runs and 94 RBI between High-A Bowling Green and Montgomery, with 20 of those homers coming at the Double-A level. While primarily a third baseman, Caminero has experience at all four infield positions and could potentially take over at shortstop for the Rays.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Nabs steal Thursday

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Ramirez has multiple hits in seven of his last 14 games, going 20-for-56 (.357) while adding three home runs and five steals in that span as he continues to be a true five-category contributor. The third baseman is slashing .279/.354/.481 with 24 homers, 27 thefts, 79 RBI and 84 runs scored across 148 games this season, numbers that represent a bit of a down year for the 31-year-old.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Giants' J.D. Davis: Not in Thursday's lineup

Davis isn't starting Thursday against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

After going 2-for-11 with an RBI and three runs scored across his last four games, Davis will get a day to rest Thursday. His absence will allow Wilmer Flores to start at third base and bat second.
