  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Angels' Mike Moustakas: Smacks three-run homer

Moustakas went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 9-7 loss to the Mariners.

Moustakas had gone 11 games without a homer, though he hit a productive .318 (14-for-44) with four doubles in that span. The homer was his 10th of the year, and the infielder has reached double digits for the first time since 2019. He's slashing .270/.336/.451 with 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and 11 doubles over 76 contests between the Rockies and the Angels this season, but his power production has actually increased since leaving Coors Field -- six of his 10 long balls have come in his 29 games as an Angel. Moustakas should continue to see a strong-side platoon role at a minimum at third base.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Goes yard in loss

Arenado went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Rockies.

Arenado got the Cardinals on the board in the second inning, but that only cut the deficit to 6-1. The third baseman had gone 4-for-31 (.129) over eight games since his last multi-hit effort. He has a .283/.330/.514 slash line with 23 homers, 79 RBI, 50 runs scored and two stolen bases over 105 contests on the season.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Pops 26th homer

Riley went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's win over the Cubs.

The third baseman has been on a big tear of late, hitting safely in 14 of his last 15 games with 10 home runs over that span. Riley's OPS for the season is up to .843, and while he may not receive down-ballot MVP votes this year like he did in 2021 and 2022, he's likely to be a part of that conversation again down the road.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Expected to sit again Saturday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Muncy (wrist) will only be available to pinch run Friday and Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

A fastball to the wrist forced Muncy from Thursday's game against Oakland. He was fortunate to avoid any structural damage -- X-rays were negative -- but it sounds like Muncy will be unavailable to hit for at least the first two games of the Padres series. Chris Taylor starts at third base Friday while David Peralta hits cleanup against right-hander Yu Darvish.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: On bench Friday

Hayes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Jared Triolo gets the start at third base, batting sixth against right-hander Colin Rea. There has been no word of a setback with Hayes' lower back nor has there been any mention of a new injury, so it seems the Pirates are just being cautious with Hayes and easing him back into regular action following his IL stint. Hayes has gone 1-for-7 with an RBI in his first two games back.

  • Joe Perez 3B | PIT

    Joe Perez: Becomes free agent

Perez was released by the Astros on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

A second-round pick in 2017, Perez ended up appearing in only one big-league game with the Astros. He's spent the entire season to date at Triple-A Sugar Land, slashing .255/.328/.399 with 10 homers and three steals in 87 games. The 23-year-old was removed from the 40-man roster earlier this week and is now free to explore his opportunities elsewhere.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Held out Friday

Muncy (wrist) isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against San Diego, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

After taking a pitch to the wrist during Thursday's win over Oakland, Muncy will get a day off. Chris Taylor will start at third base in Muncy's place and bat sixth.

  • Eguy Rosario 3B | SD

Padres' Eguy Rosario: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

The Padres reinstated Rosario (ankle) from the 60-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso.

Rosario landed on the 60-day IL in February after suffering a broken ankle during the offseason. The 23-year-old infielder has been playing in rehab games since early June and is slashing .262/.351/.462 across 74 plate appearances in Triple-A. Now healthy, Rosario will remain in El Paso and could see some time in the majors once rosters expand in September.

  • Joe Perez 3B | PIT

Astros' Joe Perez: Outrighted to Triple-A

Perez was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Perez was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 23-year-old has spent the large majority of this season at the Triple-A level and is slashing .255/.328/.399 with 10 homers and three steals through 87 games.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Placed on 10-day IL

Cleveland placed Freeman on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 2, with right shoulder soreness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

There's no exact diagnosis yet, but Freeman will be sidelined until at least next weekend. Jose Tena is joining the Guardians on Friday to provide additional middle infield depth behind Andres Gimenez, Brayan Rocchio and Gabriel Arias.
