  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Gets first start at shortstop

De La Cruz is batting cleanup and hitting fourth versus the Dodgers on Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks in his MLB debut against the Dodgers on Tuesday while playing third base, and he'll handle shortstop duties versus Noah Syndergaard and Los Angeles on Wednesday. Kevin Newman is playing third base and hitting eighth with Matt McLain lined up as the designated hitter while batting second.

  • Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Gets fifth straight start

Rivera will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Rivera will stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row after going 5-for-14 with a double, two walks, two runs and an RBI across the prior four contests. Though Rivera should be a mainstay in the lineup against southpaws, he's seen an uptick in opportunities versus right-handed pitching lately thanks to Christian Walker missing a start due to an illness and Lourdes Gurriel having now sat out three games in a row with groin tightness.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Hitting well in Vegas

Gelof owns a .280 average and .871 OPS across 181 plate appearances over 41 games with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The promising prospect is still working on whittling his strikeout rate down to an acceptable level -- it currently sits at 27.1 percent -- but he boasts a host of other encouraging metrics including a 15.5 percent walk rate, 18 extra-base hits, 20 RBI and 12 steals in 15 attempts. This season marks Gelof's second tour of duty with the Aviators after a nine-game Triple-A debut in 2022, and given the non-contending state of the big-league club, a 2023 majors debut for the 23-year-old seems all but a certainty.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Gets third straight start

Bride will start at third base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Bride will be making his third consecutive start after going 3-for-7 with a double, an RBI and a run between the first two games of the series in Pittsburgh. Since his promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 29, Bride has turned in a modest .679 OPS over 22 plate appearances, but that may be enough for him to at least temporarily settle into a near-everyday role in the Oakland infield.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Athletics' Jace Peterson: Homers twice, drives in five

Peterson went 5-for-5 with a pair of two-run home runs, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.

Peterson was exceptional, adding three singles to the first multi-homer performance of his 10-year career. The outburst snapped a cold streak for the 33-year-old, who entered the contest 4-for-35 (.114) across his last 12 games. Though he has a regular spot in the Athletics' lineup -- lately he's been bouncing between second base and third base -- Peterson's fantasy upside is capped by the Athletics' lack of offensive firepower and his position in the latter half of the order.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Exit not related to injury

Rendon's early exit from Tuesday's game against the Cubs was not related to injury, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The Angels brought in Jared Walsh as a defensive replacement for Rendon in the top of the sixth inning, with Walsh handling first base and Gio Urshela moving over to third. It's encouraging the move wasn't related to the groin injury that sidelined Rendon for three weeks, as he was just reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Leaves game in fifth inning

Rendon left Tuesday's game against the Cubs after the fifth inning, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. He went 0-for-2 with a walk before exiting.

Rendon's exit comes after he was activated off the injured list by the Angels earlier in the day, and it's not known if the move is injury-related at this time. Jared Walsh has taken over Rendon's spot in the lineup with Gio Urshela moving to third and Walsh now playing first.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Comes off injured list

Rendon (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rendon landed on the IL on May 15 with a left groin strain and will forgo a rehab assignment to return to the Angels' lineup. Rendon was slashing .353/.400/.412 across his last five games prior to getting injured. His return will cause Livan Soto to be optioned to Double-A Rocket City.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Absent from lineup Tuesday

Lewis (head) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rays.

Lewis suffered a laceration on his forehead when he collided with Gabriel Arias around the first base bag during the Twins' series finale Sunday against the Guardians. He's considered day-to-day. Willi Castro will play third base and bat sixth Tuesday versus Tampa Bay.

  • Eguy Rosario 3B | SD

Padres' Eguy Rosario: Set for rehab games

Rosario (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A El Paso.

Rosario suffered a broken ankle while doing offseason sprinting drills and underwent surgery before the start of spring training, but he has been cleared again for live games and could be a consideration for the Padres within the next few weeks. The young infielder registered an impressive .876 OPS with 22 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 124 games last year at the Triple-A level.
