McCann has underwhelmed in his limited opportunities this season as the Orioles' No. 2 backstop, batting .211 with one home run over 76 plate appearances.

    Rortvedt will get some routine maintenance for the day game after catching 11 innings of Saturday's 7-4 loss while going 1-for-3 at the dish. Alex Jackson will draw the start at catcher in his stead.

    Trevino (illness) is starting at catcher and batting eighth for Sunday's series finale against the Padres.

    Trevino missed the first two games of the series due to an illness, but he appears to have recovered and will be back behind home plate Sunday. Trevino is slashing .289/.319/.489 with three home runs and six RBI over 45 at-bats in May.

    Wong will rest in the series finale after he started at catcher in each of the previous three contests. Reese McGuire will check in for Wong behind the dish.

    Kelly will serve as the Tigers' designated hitter and No. 5 batter in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

    Detroit will make room in the lineup for both Kelly and Jake Rogers in the series finale, but the former looks to have taken on the lion's share of the playing time at catcher of late. Over the Tigers' preceding eight games, Kelly has made five starts behind the plate to Rogers' three.

    Trevino (illness) isn't in the Yankees' lineup Saturday against the Padres.

    Trevino had to leave Thursday's game due to an illness, and it will now cause him to miss his second consecutive start Saturday. Austin Wells will once again start at catcher and bat eighth.

    O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's loss to Cleveland.

    O'Hoppe picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice in the third inning and swatted a solo shot to center field in the eighth. The backstop has three multi-hit efforts over his past five games, though he's gone 0-for-4 in each of the other two contests during that span. O'Hoppe went through a 21-game stretch without a long ball between April 17 and May 13 but has gone deep in three of seven contests since.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Taking seat Saturday

    Langeliers is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Astros.

    Langeliers started in the series opener Friday, going 1-for-4. With Houston sending out right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, Oakland will start lefty-hitting Kyle McCann behind the dish Saturday. Langeliers is slashing .266/.347/.578 with four home runs and 13 RBI in May.
