Guardians' Bo Naylor: Sitting out versus Skubal

Naylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

It's lefty ace Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, so the lefty-swinging Naylor will take a seat. Austin Hedges will do the catching and bat ninth for the Guardians.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Not yet cleared for games

Jeffers (concussion) will travel with the Twins on their final road trip this week but has yet to be cleared to play in games, MLB.com reports.

Jeffers has been sidelined for the past two-plus weeks with a concussion. He has been able to go through most baseball activities, but Jeffers has yet to clear concussion protocol and it's uncertain whether that will happen before the end of the regular season. If Jeffers is unable to make it back this week, Christian Vazquez -- who was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday -- will serve as the Twins' primary catcher.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Reinstated from injured list

The Orioles activated Rutschman (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Rutschman has missed the last month-plus with a right oblique strain but will rejoin the Orioles' active roster for the final week of the regular season. He and Samuel Basallo should share catching duties in the final week, with both players also likely to see action action at designated hitter. Basallo could play some first base, as well.

  • Twins' Christian Vazquez: Activated from injured list

The Twins activated Vazquez (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Vazquez has been shelved since early August following surgery to remove an infection from his left shoulder, but he's ready to go now after a brief rehab assignment. Ryan Jeffers' (concussion) status remains in flux, which could leave Vazquez with regular catching duties in the final week of the season.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Stays hot in win

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Astros.

Raleigh's blast put the finishing touches on a seven-run second inning for the Mariners, which they rode all the way to the victory. Over the last nine games, Raleigh has surged again, going 12-for-33 (.364) with five homers and eight RBI. He's up to 58 long balls this year while adding 121 RBI, 107 runs scored, 22 doubles, 14 stolen bases and a .247/.360/.589 slash line over 153 contests. He'll look to continue his hot hitting in a three-game home series versus the Rockies that begins Tuesday.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Headed for part-time role

Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Caratini had started in four of the Astros' last five games, but he appears set to fade into a part-time role in the final week of the regular season. With Isaac Paredes returning from the 60-day injured list Friday but likely to be limited to the designated-hitter role for the foreseeable future while he recovers from a hamstring injury, the Astros won't have regular room in the lineup for Caratini.

  • Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Moves into No. 2 role

Rivero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

After starting five times in six games from last Friday through Thursday, Rivero has moved into the backup role at catcher with Logan O'Hoppe recently making his return from the 7-day injured list. Expect Rivero to see light playing time over the final week of the season.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Resting Sunday

Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Kirk will get a routine breather after he had started at catcher in the last two contests. Tyler Heineman will fill in behind the dish in the series finale.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Resting Sunday

Langeliers is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus Pittsburgh.

Langeliers will get at least a partial day off his feet after starting at catcher four of the past five days. Willie MacIver is getting a turn behind the plate for the series finale against the Pirates.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Rays' Nick Fortes: Playing time picking up

Fortes went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Saturday against the Red Sox.

Fortes started his second straight game behind the plate and has now been in the lineup in eight of the Rays' last 13 games. He has hit .286 with four RBI and two runs scored in that span, which could be enough to maintain a playing time advantage over Hunter Feduccia for the final week of the regular season.
