Heim started the last four games and went 5-for-15 with a homer, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Sam Huff will take over behind the plate and bat fifth Saturday.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Reinstated, starting Saturday

Perez (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Perez had been on the 10-day injured list since May 17, but he'll return to action after a relatively brief stint on the IL. The 32-year-old will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup Saturday, but he said he's fully healthy and expects to be available behind the dish as early as Sunday.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: On bench Saturday

Jeffers isn't starting Saturday against the Royals.

Jeffers started in the last two games and went 1-for-6 with an RBI, two walks and a strikeout. Gary Sanchez will start behind the dish while Nick Gordon enters the lineup in left field.

Rutschman isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Riding pine in matinee

Vazquez isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Vazquez started the last four games and went 7-for-17 with a homer, seven RBI and two runs, but he will be held out of the first of the two games the Red Sox will play Saturday. Kevin Plawecki will start behind the dish and bat eighth in the opener.

  • Sam Huff C | BAL

Rangers' Sam Huff: Continues to hit

Huff started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over Oakland.

Huff, who replaced Mitch Garver as the DH, continued a streak of hitting safely when he starts games. He's 13-for-30 over eight games as a starter and hitless in two pinch-hit appearances. Huff will stick around as long as Garver is unable to throw, but the results will make it difficult to send him and his bat back to the minors when Garver is ready to catch again.

  • Orioles' Anthony Bemboom: Outrighted to Triple-A

Bemboom cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Bemboom was designated for assignment last weekend but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. He played in 22 games for Baltimore before being DFA'd and hit .115/.207/.212 in 59 plate appearances.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: On bench Friday

Jansen is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Jansen has three homers in his last three contests and will receive Friday off after starting the past two games. Alejandro Kirk will take over behind the plate for Toronto.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Rangers' Mitch Garver: Takes Friday off

Garver is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Garver started the past seven games as Texas' designated hitter after being reinstated from the injured list, and he'll receive a day off after posting a .231/.276/.615 line with three home runs, four RBI and four runs. The 31-year-old has yet to be cleared to throw and should continue to work as the Rangers' primary DH for the near future.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

    Yankees' Ben Rortvedt: Sheds crutches

Rortvedt (knee) was walking normally without crutches Friday, Randy Miller of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Rortvedt underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee May 18, and it was encouraging to see him regain his mobility less than two weeks after the procedure. The catcher is hopeful that he'll be able to return to game action in 4-to-6 weeks, which puts him in line with his initial recovery timetable of mid-to-late July.
