  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Sent to minors

The Phillies optioned Marchan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Marchan had been serving as the Phillies' No. 3 catcher behind J.T. Realmuto and Andrew Knapp, but the club will swap him out for a bullpen piece in lefty Damon Jones. During his time with the Phillies, Marchan appeared in three games and went 2-for-5 with two runs.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Idle versus lefty

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

With southpaw Steven Brault on the hill for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Narvaez will take a seat, ending a streak of three straight starts behind the plate. Manny Pina will catch for Freddy Peralta in the series finale.

  • Curt Casali C | ATL

Giants' Curt Casali: Smacks fifth homer

Casali went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Arizona.

The catcher accounted for San Francisco's lone run when he went deep in the fifth inning. Casali has gone 3-for-6 with a homer and a double in his last two games. The 32-year-old has five long balls, 21 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .221/.329/.404 slash line in 158 plate appearances. He's likely to start every third game or so as Buster Posey's backup.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Resting Wednesday

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Barnhart will get a breather in the series finale after he caught in four of the Reds' past five games. Tyler Stephenson will be behind the dish Wednesday, working in a battery with Luis Castillo.

  • Alex Jackson C | MIN

Marlins' Alex Jackson: Pops first big-league homer

Jackson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Mets.

He opened the scoring on the night by taking Taijuan Walker deep in the second inning, his first career homer in the big leagues. Jackson also struck out twice, and the move to Miami at the trade deadline doesn't seem to have changed the catcher's fortunes at the plate -- it's a small sample of 58 plate appearances, but Jackson's gone just 4-for-51 (.078) with a 3:26 BB:K in the majors for his career.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Swats fifth homer

Barnhart went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Twins.

He went back-to-back with Eugenio Suarez to lead off in the third inning, giving the Reds an early 2-1 lead in the back-and-forth affair. Barnhart had an .815 OPS at the end of May but hasn't contributed much since, slashing .243/.304/.348 over his last 38 games with two of his five homers on the year.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Continues power surge

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double and three total runs in Tuesday's 13-6 win over the Cubs.

After Chicago jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Diaz turned the tide with a grand slam in the bottom of the second inning. He added a single and a double and scored twice more over the remainder of the contest. Diaz is up to 12 homers on the campaign, with three of the long balls coming over his past four contests.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Cranks 12th homer

Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Realmuto left the yard against Patrick Corbin in the seventh inning. After heating up with 10 hits over the last four games, the 30-year-old backstop has raised his season slash line to .275/.360/.458 to go with 12 long balls.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Called up to big leagues

Adams was recalled from Triple-A Rochester prior to Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

Adams was acquired from the Blue Jays in the trade that sent Brad Hand to Toronto last week. After hitting an ugly .107 across his first 30 major-league plate appearances, Adams will look to get off to a better start with Washington. Per Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington, the rookie is expected to split time with Tres Barrera behind the plate going forward.
