Stallings will sit Friday against the Mets, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

Stallings had been scheduled for a rest Thursday, but that game was rained out. He'll wind up getting two days off in a row, with Michael Perez catching in his absence Friday.

Caratini had X-rays on his right hand come back negative after leaving Thursday's game against the Nationals, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old exited Thursday's contest after being clipped on the hand by a foul ball, but it appears he avoided a serious injury. Caratini should be considered day-to-day heading into Friday's series opener versus the Rockies.

Realmuto went 0-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Cubs.

Realmuto's steal and run came in the second inning, as he darted home when Didi Gregorius stole second. The 30-year-old catcher has gone 5-for-21 (.238) with five walks, a home run, two RBI and seven runs scored through six games in July. Overall, Realmuto has a .261/.369/.437 slash line, eight homers, 31 RBI, 33 runs scored and five steals in seven attempts through 67 contests.

Caratini was removed from Thursday's game after being clipped on the hand by a foul ball, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Caratini took a foul ball off his right hand. He attempted to stay in the game but was ultimately lifted in favor of pinch-hitter Webster Rivas in the sixth inning. If Caratini is forced to miss more game time, the Padres will be left thin behind the plate with Austin Nola (knee) still sidelined.

Contreras isn't starting Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Contreras had started in each of the last eight contests, and he reached base safely in each of those appearances. During that time, he went 8-for-26 with two doubles, a run, an RBI and 10 walks. Robinson Chirinos will start behind the plate and bat fifth.

Stallings is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mets, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

Stallings went 3-for-10 with a homer, a double, three RBI and three runs in two games versus Atlanta, and he'll take a seat for the opener in New York. Michael Perez will work behind the plate for the Buccos.

Diaz isn't starting Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Diaz has gone 8-for-21 with three home runs, two doubles, six RBI and four runs across his last six appearances, and he'll get a breather Thursday. Dom Nunez will start at catcher and bat eighth.

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Arizona.

Diaz took Matt Peacock deep to center to lead off the seventh and finally get the Rockies on the scoreboard. He now has five homers over his last eight games after having only two in his first 41 contests. The recent power surge has been a welcoming surprise but is surely unsustainable and won't take away from the fact that Diaz is slashing just .205/.280/.384 with seven homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored and a 16:31 BB:K over 168 plate appearances for the season.

Caratini is not starting Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 27-year-old is hitting .167 in his last 10 games, having recorded neither a homer nor a multi-hit game in that stretch. Austin Nola (knee) is expected to return not long after the All-Star break and will offer Caratini more competition than current backup Webster Rivas, who is starting Wednesday.

Stallings went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 14-3 loss to Atlanta.

Stallings' first-inning homer was ultimately the only scoring in a miserable, rain-interrupted game for the Pirates. The catcher is now hitting .205 with six RBI and 12 strikeouts in his last 10 games. A .226 average through 212 at-bats is certainly underwhelming, but Stallings has little competition from .135-hitting backup Michael Perez.
