  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Rests Tuesday

Realmuto is on the bench Tuesday in Cincinnati.

It appears to be a regular day off for Realmuto, who has accumulated two doubles, two triples and three home runs along with nine RBI in 12 games so far this month. Garrett Stubbs is the backstop for Tuesday's contest.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Shelved with quad strain

Atlanta placed Tromp on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a strained left quadricep.

After getting called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 7, Tromp went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in his lone game for Atlanta on Saturday against the Marlins. He apparently picked up the injury in that game and will now miss at least the next week and a half, but he likely wouldn't have stuck around with the big club much longer even if he hadn't gotten hurt. Travis d'Arnaud (lower leg) returned from a short-term injury in Monday's win over the Mets, giving Atlanta two healthy catchers again.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Arrives in big leagues

The Athletics selected Langeliers' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Just one week ago, general manager David Forst suggested that Langeliers was on track to receive a promotion to the big leagues before season's end, and now Oakland has made the move official. Regarded as a solid defender behind the plate, Langeliers should be part of a timeshare at catcher and designated hitter with Sean Murphy that will allow both players to handle near-everyday roles. Prior to getting promoted, Langeliers was in the midst of a big offensive season at Las Vegas, slashing .283/.366/.510 with 19 home runs and five stolen bases across 402 plate appearances. The 24-year-old looks worthy of a flier in just about any league, even in shallower formats that start just one catcher.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Goes yard in return

D'Arnaud went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's 13-1 rout of the Mets.

After missing the prior seven games due to a lower-leg issue, d'Arnaud got the start at catcher Monday and hit seventh, and his three-run blast off Mychal Givens in the sixth inning capped the scoring on the night for Atlanta. The veteran backstop hadn't gone deep since late June, snapping a 22-game drought with the performance, and on the season d'Arnaud is slashing .257/.310/.449 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI in 73 games. Expect the 33-year-old to split time with William Contreras the rest of the way as Atlanta tries to keep both catchers healthy for the playoffs.

  • Joey Bart C | ATL

Giants' Joey Bart: Three hits, two RBI in win

Bart went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run in Monday's 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Bart has produced five hits in his first two games back in action after he recently missed five days with a right ankle sprain. The young backstop endured a tough start to the 2022 campaign, but he's been much improved since getting a call-up from Triple-A Sacramento on July 6. In his 28 games since rejoining the big club, Bart is slashing .314/.344/.523 with five home runs, 13 runs, 12 RBI and a stolen base in 28 games. Those numbers make Bart a usable option even in fantasy leagues that start only one catcher.

  • Braves' William Contreras: Belts 16th homer

Contreras went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 13-1 rout of the Mets.

The young backstop got in on the action early, taking Carlos Carrasco (side) deep in the second inning. Contreras has hit safely in seven straight games, and since the All-Star break he's slashing .254/.315/.507 in 73 plate appearances with five of his 16 homers on the season.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Guardians' Luke Maile: Homers in nightcap

Maile went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in a 7-5 win over the Tigers in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.

Maile didn't have any homers in the first four months of the season, but he's now hit two in his last four contests. The 31-year-old backup catcher has actually done well lately, going 10-for-23 (.435) during his seven-game hitting streak. For the season, he's up to a .235/.326/.361 slash line with two long balls, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and nine doubles through 138 plate appearances. It's still unlikely he unseats Austin Hedges for the starting role behind the dish in Cleveland.

  • Marlins' Jacob Stallings: Perfect day at plate

Stallings went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Monday's 3-0 win over the Padres.

Stallings singled three times, including an RBI base hit in the sixth inning to pad Miami's lead. Over his last 17 games, he's gone 20-for-51 (.392) with six extra-base hits and five RBI. Still, his season slash line sits at a disappointing .221/.286/.290 through 89 games.

  • Mets' Michael Perez: Back with big club

Perez was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Perez was dealt from the Pirates to the Mets at the end of July, but this will be his first opportunity to debut with his new club. He slashed .150/.209/.318 with six homers, 11 RBI and one stolen base through 39 games with Pittsburgh prior to the trade. Perez figures to serve as the backup catcher after Tomas Nido was placed on the COVID-19 injured list earlier in the day.

  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Mets' Tomas Nido: Lands on COVID-19 IL

Nido was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear how long Nido will be sidelined, but he will be unavailable until he has put the COVID-19 concerns behind him. Michael Perez was called up to take Nido's spot on the roster.
