  • Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Dealing with arm injury

Quero was removed Wednesday from Triple-A Nashville's 14-13 win over Charlotte after four innings due to an apparent left arm injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The catching prospect appeared to suffer the injury to his non-throwing arm while attempting to tag out a baserunner earlier in the contest. The Brewers haven't provided an update on Quero's injury, but more information on his status could be available when he gets examined Thursday. After missing nearly all of the 2024 season while recovering from surgery to address a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Quero has slashed .259/.333/.362 with two home runs and two stolen bases over 129 plate appearances with Nashville in 2025.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: On base three times

Goodman went 2-for-3 with a walk Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Goodman went 7-for-21 while getting on base at a .364 clip across five games during the Rockies' homestand, tallying four RBI and two runs scored. He also struck out eight times, a larger trend across July for Goodman, as he has a 31.6 percent strikeout rate across 57 plate appearances during the month.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Records first career homer

Teel went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and three total runs scored Wednesday in an 11-9 win over Tampa Bay.

The highlight of Teel's day was a solo homer in the sixth inning for his first career MLB long ball, but he was plenty productive beyond that. The rookie catcher added a run-scoring single in the eighth frame and notched his first career four-hit performance. Teel has opened the second half of the season on a tear, going 7-for-14 with six runs and two RBI in his first three games.

  • Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Nursing mild strain

Higashioka was diagnosed with a mild hamstring strain and will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Higashioka's hamstring injury resulted in him making an early exit from Tuesday's 6-2 win. Despite the backstop's diagnosis, manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that he's hopeful Higashioka can avoid a trip to the injured list. Jonah Heim will start behind the plate in Wednesday's series finale and will likely operate as the Rangers' primary catcher until Higashioka is healthy.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Getting breather Wednesday

Wells is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Wells will get a breather for the series finale after he started behind the dish Monday and Tuesday. J.C. Escarra will form a battery Wednesday with starting pitcher Max Fried.

  • Orioles' Maverick Handley: Goes on 10-day IL with wrist sprain

The Orioles transferred Handley (concussion) from the 7-day injured list to the 10-day IL due to a right wrist sprain.

Handley suffered a concussion as a result of a collision with the Yankees' Jazz Chisholm back on June 22, but he also hurt his wrist on the play. He appears to have since cleared concussion protocol, but a recent visit with a wrist specialist confirmed a sprain. The Orioles haven't indicated how long Handley might be shelved.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Receiving breather Wednesday

Herrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

He'll take a seat for the day game after he went 0-for-4 while catching all nine innings of Tuesday night's 3-1 loss. James McCann will spell Herrera behind the plate in the series finale.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Taking seat Wednesday

Smith is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Smith was behind the dish for both of the first two games of the series, so he'll get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. The Dodgers will roll out Dalton Rushing at catcher in the rubber match.

  • Diego Cartaya: Cut loose by Minnesota

The Twins released Cartaya on Wednesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Cartaya was acquired from the Dodgers via trade over the offseason but looked completed lost at Triple-A St. Paul, going 5-for-59 with 40 strikeouts before he was placed on the development list July 1 and ultimately cut loose. The former top prospect is still just 23 years old, but his future in baseball looks murky.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Taking seat Wednesday

Raleigh is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Brewers.

Raleigh slugged his 39th home run of the season for the game's only run in Tuesday's 1-0 victory, but he will get some well-deserved rest during Wednesday's matinee. The All-Star catcher is getting just his second day off since June 9. Mitch Garver will step in behind the plate and bat sixth for the Mariners in the series finale.
