Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sitting again Sunday

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Sitting Sunday

  • Red Sox's Kevin Plawecki: X-rays return negative

Plawecki had X-rays on his foot come back negative after being hit by a pitch during Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Plawecki delivered a productive performance by going 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk before being hit by a pitch during the ninth inning, prompting his exit. The 30-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury, and he should have a couple days to get healthy since primary catcher Christian Vazquez figures to rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus the Yankees.

  • Red Sox's Kevin Plawecki: Productive night offensively

Plawecki went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees.

Plawecki opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo homer off New York starter Nestor Cortes, the third long ball of the year for the backup catcher, who also singled and drew a walk. The 30-year-old Plawecki is hitting .289/.353/.395 in 168 plate appearances this season.

  • Taylor Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Taylor Davis: Debut goes well

Davis went 2-for-3 in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Phillies.

The 31-year-old, who collected a pair of singles Saturday, could work his way into a platoon with Michael Perez while starter Jacob Stallings (concussion) remains sidelined. Davis has slashed .253/.347/.331 at Triple-A with two homers in 176 plate appearances in 2021.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Trevino recorded the fourth three-hit game of his career Saturday night, with the highlight being his solo homer off Brooks Kriske that got the Rangers back into the game. Hopefully this performance spells the end of the backstop's slump, as Trevino entered play batting .077 in his last eight games.

Mariners' Tom Murphy: Not starting Saturday

Murphy is out of the lineup Saturday versus the Angels.
