Murphy isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Murphy went 1-for-3 with a run and a strikeout Tuesday, but he continues to alternate starts behind the plate. Luis Torrens will start at catcher and bat sixth.

Barnes hit a solo home run in a pinch-hit appearance during Tuesday's loss to San Diego.

The Dodgers' offense was quiet most of the game but pushed across a run in the eighth frame. With the team trailing by two in the ninth, Barnes was called upon to pinch hit and cut the deficit in half with a solo shot off Mark Melancon. The long ball accounted for his first RBI in what has been a rough month for the backstop -- he is batting only .174 in June, though he has worked five walks to register a respectable .321 OBP.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Tuesday's 13-6 win over the Rangers.

Murphy doubled off Demarcus Evans in the ninth inning, knocking in a pair of runs to extend the lead. Also, he scored in the third frame on a Mark Canha single. The catcher is slashing .221/.330/.427 with nine home runs and 38 RBI in 233 plate appearances. He has reached base safely in his last seven games.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Gomes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Gomes is most likely just getting some extra maintenance for the day game after he went 2-for-4 with two RBI while catching all nine innings of Tuesday's 3-2 win. Alex Avila will catch for starting pitcher Erick Fedde in the series finale.

Stallings isn't starting Wednesday against the White Sox, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Stallings had started each of the last two games, and he went 1-for-8 with an RBI and three strikeouts. Michael Perez will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Wong entered the game as the runner on second base to start the 11th inning and scored the game-winning run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Tampa Bay.

Wong served as a pinch runner for J.D. Martinez, who was the scheduled runner to start the 11th. He came around to score on Rafael Devers' two-run double. Wong is up with the Red Sox after the team placed Kevin Plawecki (hamstring) on the injured list.

Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Reds.

Jeffers put the Twins on the board with the two-run shot during the fourth inning, and he also came around to score after hitting a single during the eighth. The 24-year-old has hit well with a .255 average, five homers and 13 RBI in 15 games since rejoining the Twins in early June when Mitch Garver (groin) landed on the injured list.

Barnhart went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, three RBI and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 10-7 win at Minnesota.

Barhart went deep during the third inning to open the scoring, scored after singling during the fifth, and delivered a two-run single during the eighth. It was the 30-year-old's first home run since May 2 and fourth long ball overall, as he's hitting .271/.352/.429 in 55 games.

Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Higashioka took Brady Singer deep in the second inning, his first long ball since May 8. The 31-year-old backup catcher now has six long balls on the season while batting .191/.273/.438 across 34 games.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's win over Cleveland.

Contreras gave the Cubs a 5-0 lead with an RBI single in the sixth inning, then hit his 12th home run of the season in the eighth to make it 6-1. The catcher is having another solid campaign with a .766 OPS and the dozen long balls, which is good for third on the team, though his .237 batting average would be a new career low.
