An MRI on Royals catcher Salvador Perez came back clean, according to MLB.com.

Perez has been dealing with knee issues, but both he and manager Ned Yost have been adamant the injury is not serious. Perez first complained of tightness Monday, but played in Tuesday's game. He was held out Wednesday, though, and the club decided to send him for an MRI. Perez is hitting .268/.304/.417 over 441 at-bats.

Indians catcher Yan Gomes left Thursday's game after being hit in the head with a deflected ball, according to the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

Gomes was initially taken out with an illness, but that doesn't appear to be the case. The team doctor did not say whether Gomes was dealing with a concussion. He'll continue to be monitored for now.

Gomes is considered day to day at this point, with the Indians beginning a series against the Astros Friday.

Perez missed Wednesday's game due to the issue. He complained of knee tightness Monday, but was able to play through the injury Tuesday. Despite the MRI, manager Ned Yost remains adamant that the injury is not serious.

Perez complained of tightness Monday, but said he would be fine. He was able to start Tuesday's game and was slated to play Wednesday until he was scratched. Resting Perez is considered precautionary at this time. 

Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud served as the designated hitter Tuesday and went 1 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 6-2 loss to the A's Tuesday.

d'Arnaud broke a scoreless tie with his shot in the top of the fourth inning, but the A's were able to pick up four runs in the bottom half of the inning and hold the lead over the remainder of the game. He has hit .227/.293/.395 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 286 at-bats.

Indians catcher Yan Gomes went yard Tuesday against the Twins.

Gomes struck in the second inning. With the bases empty, Gomes took a 91 mph fastball out to left for the solo shot. He would also single twice during the contest. Gomes finished 3 for 4, with three runs scored and one RBI. 

Giants catcher Hector Sanchez has been diagnosed with a second concussion, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Sanchez will be out indefinitely following the revelation of a second concussion, and manager Bruce Bochy said there's a chance his season is over. The catcher has hit .196/.237/.301 with three home runs and 28 RBI in 163 at-bats.

Perez will catch and hit third. He said his knee was tight following Monday night's game, but stressed that he wasn't in pain. Perez is hitting .268/.305/.417 over 436 at-bats.

Braves catching prospect Christian Bethancourt has been placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Gwinnett, due to a left hand contusion. Bethancourt is hitting .268/.292/.393 in 313 at-bats at Gwinnett, and shouldn't be out long.
