Rortvedt went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a walk Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Rortvedt has had brief spells as the Rays' primary catcher this season, but he has started every third game since mid-May. Rortvedt offers some defensive value, but even with Sunday's strong effort, he has only six hits across 60 at-bats for the season with one extra-base hit.

McGuire went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 11-8 win over the Reds.

McGuire had his contract selected from Triple-A Iowa earlier in the day to replace Miguel Amaya (oblique) on the roster, and the former wasted no time making a splash with his new team. Carson Kelly, who was scratched Sunday due to an illness, will see the bulk of the playing time behind the plate with Amaya out, but McGuire will mix in here and there. The 30-year-old blasted three home runs and posted a .575 OPS in 53 games for the Red Sox last year, and he has a limited fantasy ceiling in 2025.

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Alvarez will remain on the bench for the second game in a row and the third time in four contests while he's struggled to get going at the plate since being activated from the injured list April 25. Through his first 20 games of the season, Alvarez is hitting .232 with a 29.5 percent strikeout rate and has just three extra-base hits (one home run, two doubles) over 78 plate appearances. Until his bat begins to heat up, Alvarez looks like he could be part of a timeshare behind the plate with Luis Torrens.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said after Sunday's 5-1 win over the Red Sox that Rutschman (head) was removed from the game as a precaution, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Rutschman took a foul tip to his catcher's mask in the bottom of the third inning but stayed in the game to play one more inning behind the dish. The Orioles removed Rutschman from the contest the next time his turn in the batting order came up in the top of the fifth, with Maverick Handley catching the final five innings. Mansolino was unwilling to say Sunday whether Rutschman was in concussion protocol, as the Orioles instead plan to monitor his condition over the next 24 hours before determining his availability moving forward. The Orioles will face a quick turnaround with a Memorial Day game against the Cardinals that begins at 3:05 p.m. ET, so Rutschman may not be cleared to play in that contest.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Atlanta.

Diaz is getting a routine breather after he had started behind the dish in each of the Padres' last three contests. Martin Maldonado will handle catching duties in the series finale.

Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Hicks is on the bench for the fourth time in five games and appears to be fading into more of a part-time role despite upholding a stellar 1.117 OPS thus far in May. Though top backstop Agustin Ramirez often makes starts as a designated hitter, Nick Fortes continues to factor into the mix for work at catcher, which has prevented Hicks from taking on a larger share of the playing time behind the plate.

The Orioles removed Rutschman in the top of the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox due to an apparent injury, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. He went 0-for-2 at the plate prior to departing.

Baltimore has yet to provide an explanation for Rutschman's early exit, though Meyer notes that the backstop appeared to be in some discomfort after taking a foul ball to his catcher's mask in the bottom of the third inning. Rutschman stayed in the game and played an inning behind the plate after that, but he was lifted when his next turn in the lineup came up in the top of the fifth. Maverick Handley came on to replace Rutschman, who could be receiving an evaluation for a concussion.

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Marlins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

O'Hoppe started the previous six games and will receive a breather Sunday after going 10-for-26 with four homers during that stretch. Travis d'Arnaud will take over behind the plate and bat sixth in the series finale against Miami.

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Langeliers will receive a breather for the day game after he caught all 11 innings of Saturday's 9-6 loss while going 1-for-6 with a stolen base and a run. Willie MacIver will start in place of Langeliers behind the dish for what will be his MLB debut.

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Wells started the first two games of the series and went 3-for-8 with a double, two RBI and two runs, but he'll receive a breather for Sunday's finale. J.C. Escarra will step in behind the plate to catch for Will Warren.
