Adrian Del Castillo C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Back from IL
Del Castillo (calf) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
The 26-year-old opened the season on the injured list due to a calf strain, but he's good to go after a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno. Del Castillo seemed to have a decent path to playing time when Pavin Smith (elbow) landed on the IL, but Jose Fernandez made a huge impact in his MLB debut this week and is likely to get his fair amount of chances in the short term.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Hits first homer with new club
Contreras went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-2 win over the Padres.
Contreras hit what proved to be the game-winning home run off Michael King in the sixth inning. The veteran has gone just 4-for-23 to start the year but appears to be finding his groove, hitting safely in each of the past three games. He's tallied 20-plus homers in six of his 10 major-league seasons, including four of the past five, and is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he posted a career-best 80 RBI.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Departs after taking foul tip
Kirk was removed from Friday's game against the White Sox after being struck in the left thumb by a foul tip while catching, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Kirk went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI before departing during the bottom of the 10th inning after the foul tip. The Blue Jays should provide an update in the near future, but for now, the 27-year-old backstop should be considered day-to-day.

Carter Jensen C | KC
Royals' Carter Jensen: Out of lineup again Friday
Jensen is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.
Jensen had to be scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Twins after he overslept, and he remains out of the lineup Friday even as the Brewers are sending a righty in Chad Patrick to the bump. He entered Thursday's game late on defense and presumably will be available off the bench again Friday. Starling Marte is at designated hitter and batting sixth for the Royals on Friday.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: In exclusive company
Baldwin went 1-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI in Thursday's rout of the Diamondbacks.
Per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, in the process Baldwin became just the third player in franchise history to score at least one run in each of the first seven games of a season, joining Hall of Famers Jimmy Collins (who accomplished the feat in 1900) and Hank Aaron (1957). Baldwin's had a blistering start to 2026, slashing .286/.375/.643 in 32 plate appearances with a double, three homers, eight RBI, nine runs and a 4:3 BB:K.

Freddy Fermin C | SD
Padres' Freddy Fermin: Taking seat Friday
Fermin is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Boston.
It will be Luis Campusano doing the catching. Fermin has made four starts to Campusano's three behind the plate thus far, and a similar playing time breakdown seems likely to continue.

Pedro Pages C | STL
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Out of lineup Friday
Pages is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Detroit.
Ivan Herrera is getting the start at catcher, so Pages will take a seat. Pages is 3-for-15 with one home run and a 0:4 BB:K in his first five games this season.

Daniel Susac C | SF
Giants' Daniel Susac: Reaches four times in first MLB start
Susac went 3-for-3 with a walk Thursday in a 7-2 win against the Mets.
Susac won the Giants' backup catcher role in spring training, but this was the first time he had an opportunity to start (he did enter as a defensive replacement Wednesday). Susac singled in his first MLB plate appearance in the second inning and went on to reach three more times on two additional singles and a walk. Patrick Bailey is entrenched as San Francisco's starting catcher, so Susac probably isn't going to see extensive playing time.

Carter Jensen C | KC
Royals' Carter Jensen: Overslept Thursday
Jensen was not included in Thursday's lineup against the Twins because he overslept and arrived late to the park, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
Jensen was a late scratch from the starting lineup in the team's 5-1 loss to the Twins in the series finale Thursday, which is now understood to be because he overslept. Jensen explained that he didn't wake up to his alarm and that he didn't have an excuse, ultimately feeling like he let his teammates and coaches down. The 22-year-old said he'll learn from his mistake and that it won't happen again. Through five games so far this year, Jensen has gone 2-for-16 with a two-run home run, a walk and eight strikeouts.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Braves' Sean Murphy: Completes sim game with High-A
Murphy (hip) caught three innings of a simulated game with High-A Rome on Wednesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Murphy has been on the shelf since the beginning of spring training while recovering from right hip surgery, but Wednesday's sim game was a step in the right direction. The catcher will have to work up to nine innings behind the plate and then do so on consecutive days before he'll be considered ready to be activated from the 10-day injured list. The plans for Murphy's upcoming rehab assignment are expected to be announced soon, but he appears to be on track to return at some point in late April or early May.
