  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Getting rest day

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Unless he makes a plate appearance off the bench, Smith will put his eight-game hitting streak on hold and get a breather after he was behind the plate for each of the Dodgers' previous five contests. Austin Barnes will handle the catching duties in the series finale.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Out of Sunday's lineup

Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Moreno started the first two games of the series and will sit Sunday afternoon after going 2-for-7 with an RBI. Tucker Barnhart will step in behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Getting maintenance day

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Langeliers was probably overdue for a day off, as he had started at catcher or served as a designated hitter in each of Oakland's last five games. Kyle McCann will get a turn behind the plate in Sunday's series finale.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Getting rest Sunday

Lee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Lee will hit the bench for the series finale after he caught all 10 innings of Saturday's 6-5 win while going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Martin Maldonado will draw the nod behind the plate Sunday.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Taking seat Sunday

Wong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Wong went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts Saturday and will hit the bench for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. Reese McGuire will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Cooper Criswell.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Receiving breather Sunday

Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Jansen will get a routine maintenance day in the series finale after drawing starts at catcher in each of the Blue Jays' previous three games. Alejandro Kirk will check in for him behind the dish.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Workload picking up

Fermin will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Fermin will be behind the dish for the fifth time in seven games while Salvador Perez gets a day off from catching and serves as the Royals' designated hitter. Nelson Velazquez has served as the Royals' primary DH all season, but he's been occupying more of a part-time role of late as manager Matt Quartaro has look to make room in the lineup for Fermin, who has gone 5-for-18 with a solo home run and three walks over his last six games.

  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Mets' Tomas Nido: Getting rest Sunday

Nido is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Nido will get a breather for the series finale after he caught both of the Mets' previous two games. Omar Narvaez will replace Nido behind the plate and will bat ninth.

  • Joey Bart C | CHW

Pirates' Joey Bart: On bench in second straight

Bart is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Though he stuck around over Henry Davis -- who was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday -- once Yasmani Grandal (foot) was activated from the 10-day injured list, Bart looks as though he'll operate as the Pirates' No. 2 option behind the plate. He'll take a seat for the second straight day while Grandal logs another start at catcher.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | LAD

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Not in Sunday's lineup

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Rortvedt started four of the previous five games but will receive Sunday off after he went 3-for-12 with four strikeouts during that stretch. Alex Jackson will step in behind the plate to catch for Ryan Pepiot on Sunday.
