    Martinez was removed from Sunday's game against the Nationals in the top of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

    The nature and severity of Martinez's injury aren't yet clear, but he was replaced by a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth. He went 0-for-1 with a strikeout to begin the contest, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return.

    Torrens went 1-for-4 with a triple in a loss to the Angels on Friday.

    Torrens reached safely for the third time in the last four games with his second triple of the season, which was one of the few offensive bright spots for the Mariners in the disappointing loss. Torrens is wrapping up the regular season in fine fashion at the plate, as he's hit .354 (23-for-65) with three doubles, Friday's three-bagger, a home run, eight RBI, two walks and eight runs across his last 22 games.

    Choi started against a southpaw in Friday's series opener, but he'll take a seat with left-hander Jordan Montgomery on the mound Saturday. Francisco Mejia will start at first base and bat ninth.

    Buxton went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Friday's 11-6 loss to Kansas City.

    Buxton doubled and scored in both the fourth and sixth innings Friday. Over the last 10 games, the 27-year-old outfielder has gone 15-for-35 (.429) with nine extra-base hits and 13 runs scored. He boosted his season slash line to .305/.359/.637 with 47 runs scored and 39 extra-base hits through 245 plate appearances.

    Brantley will sit Friday against Oakland, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

    Brantley hasn't taken the field since Sept. 11 after injuring his knee, but he's played the last two games as a designated hitter. He'll get a full day off Friday, with Chas McCormick starting in that spot. Per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, Brantley will test his knee Friday and could play in the outfielder over the weekend.
