Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Vogelbach will be activated ahead of Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Toronto acquired Vogelbach from the Mariners on Sunday, but the first baseman/designated hitter had been stuck in limbo for the past few days while he waited to complete the COVID-19 intake testing process. Now that Vogelbach has cleared all health-related protocols, he'll provide the Blue Jays with a left-handed power bat off the bench. Vogelbach is somewhat redundant with another lefty-hitting, first base/DH type in Rowdy Tellez already on the roster, so the former could be a store for a limited role initially.

Jimenez went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, an additional run scored and a walk during Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Pirates.

The 23-year-old twisted his ankle while celebrating Lucas Giolito's no-hitter Tuesday, but he returned to action with no issues Wednesday. Jimenez now has a seven-game hit streak in which he is 13-for-28 with three home runs, three doubles, six runs and seven RBI.

Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Cubs.

The veteran is still batting just .219 this season but he's now riding a four-game hitting streak. In those contests, Cabrera has gone 7-for-14. He won't hit for the power he did earlier in his career, but the 37-year-old did hit .282 in 2019, so he's still capable of getting on base at a decent rate.

Jimenez (ankle) will start in left field and will bat fifth Wednesday against the Pirates.

Jimenez enjoyed another productive showing the dish in Tuesday's 4-0 win (2-for-4 with a double and an RBI), but the twisted ankle he suffered while celebrating teammate Lucas Giolito's no-hitter after the game cast some doubt on his availability for the remainder of the series. After being checked out by the White Sox's training staff early Wednesday, Jimenez looks to have avoid a significant injury, as he'll be cleared to make a 17th straight start in left field. Assuming he makes it out of Wednesday's came no worse for the wear, Jimenez will get some much-needed time to rest Thursday, when the White Sox have an open date in their schedule.

The Twins are optimistic that Buxton (shoulder) may be ready to return from the 10-day injured list early next week, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Minnesota has been pleased thus far with how Buxton's inflamed left shoulder has responded to hitting off a tee, so he'll presumably be on track to take swings against live pitching within the next few days in what would likely mark the final hurdle he would need to clear in his rehab process. While Buxton has been sidelined, the Twins have turned center field over to LaMonte Wade and Jake Cave.

It was Cabrera's first multi-hit effort since Aug. 16 and just his fourth of the season. He should keep hitting in the middle of Detroit's lineup and is a good enough pure hitter to post solid stat lines from time to time, but his days as a feared offensive force are behind him.

Buxton (shoulder) is feeling much better and has been swinging the bat recently, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation Thursday, but he appears to be progressing nicely in his recovery. While he's making progress, it's uncertain whether he'll be able to return after spending 10 days on the IL. Jake Cave should continue to see increased playing time while Buxton recovers.

Manager Joe Maddon envisions Ohtani being able to play the field in future seasons, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Ohtani has been taking flyballs in the outfield and grounders at first base, but he will be confined to designated hitter duties this season due to his elbow injury that is also preventing him from pitching. From a fantasy perspective, it would be great if Ohtani could be a full-time position player, but he may be deployed once again as a two-way player when he is fully healthy.

Brantley is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels.

Considering he just got back from a quadriceps injury, it was expected that he would sit for at least one of the two games Tuesday. He will be the DH for Game 2 and could return to the field this weekend against the A's, according to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic. Taylor Jones will start at designated hitter and bat sixth.
