Mike Ford DH | MIN
Yankees' Mike Ford: Swats sixth homer
Ford went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Ford did not start but was called upon to take the lineup spot of Didi Gregorius, who exited after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. Ford took full advantage of the opportunity, going deep against Clayton Kershaw in the sixth frame and plating another run with a double off Pedro Baez in the eighth. Despite the productive game, the 27-year-old is likely to lose playing time as soon as Luke Voit (sports hernia) makes his imminent return. Ford is slashing .215/.318/.441 with six homers and 11 RBI in 107 plate appearances this season.

Franmil Reyes DH | WAS
Indians' Franmil Reyes: Posts pair of long balls
Reyes went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in a 9-8 loss against the Royals on Sunday.
It looked like it was going to be another poor day for the outfielder, as he entered the eighth inning 0-for-3, but he hit a home run in the eighth and ninth, helping the Indians erase a five-run deficit. Reyes is hitting just .182 since joining the Indians at the end of July, but overall, he's batting .241 with 32 home runs, 60 RBI and 52 runs in 398 at-bats with the Padres and Indians this season.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Drills two solo shots
Canha went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Sunday's 5-4 loss to San Francisco.
Canha is on a nine-game hitting streak with five homers and 12 RBI during that span. The hot streak has raised his OPS to .936, a huge upgrade from the career-high .778 he posted last season.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Slugs solo homer in loss
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to San Diego on Sunday.
Martinez drilled a 411-foot shot to left field in the fourth inning to produce the only run of the game for the Red Sox. He also impressed with his arm, throwing out a pair of runners -- one at third base and one at home -- in the loss. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a scorching August, hitting .383 with eight long balls and 20 RBI in 81 at-bats.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Registers 44th RBI
Choi went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
Choi plated a run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to right field, though the Rays would fall 8-3 in the series finale. After going 0-for-10 over his last three contests, Choi was able to build some momentum by collecting a pair of base knocks Sunday.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: To hit on field in Seattle
Stanton (knee) is expected to start hitting on the field during New York's three-game series in Seattle, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Stanton has been able to take part in agility work on the field over the last few days, so he'll be cleared to take batting practice with the team sometime during his team's upcoming series. The slugger has been rehabbing from a strained PCL since June 26.

Mike Ford DH | MIN
Yankees' Mike Ford: Sitting in NL park
Ford is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
With no designated-hitter spot available in Los Angeles, Ford will be squeezed out of the lineup for a third straight day. He'll have a chance to recapture more frequent work when the Yankees resume American League play Monday in Seattle, but Ford's run of steady at-bats will likely come to an end once Luke Voit (sports hernia) is ready to return from the 10-day injured list. Voit has already appeared in two minor-league rehab games and could be only a few days away from being reinstated.
-
Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Sitting amid skid
Vogelbach is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Vogelbach will get a rare day off versus a right-handed pitcher (Clay Buchholz) while he continues to endure a rough August. Since homering in the Mariners' first game of the month, Vogelbach has gone 7-for-57 (.123 average) with two home runs and a 32.8 percent strikeout rate. Omar Narvaez will fill in for Vogelbach as the Mariners' designated hitter.
-
Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Astros' Michael Brantley: Belts homer in win
Brantley went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run Saturday in the Astros' 5-2 win over the Angels.
Brantley has plated a pair of runs in three of his last four starts to give him 80 RBI on the season, leaving him just four short of matching the second-best total of his career. His 19th home run also leaves him one short of his career high, which he achieved in his first All-Star season with the Indians back in 2014. He'll start in left field and bat second Sunday in the series finale with the Angels.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Receives Sunday off
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Sunday maintenance has become fairly commonplace for Cabrera, especially when the Tigers are playing day games after night games. With Cabrera resting in the series finale, Ronny Rodriguez will enter the lineup as Detroit's designated hitter.
