Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Monday. He was hitless in three at-bats and struck out once, but he also drove in a run.
Soler has been sidelined since early June due to a sprained ankle.

Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson slugged his 20th home run of the season Monday, but it was not enough as the Dodgers lost 10-6 to the Diamondbacks.
Pederson hit the solo shot off Allen Webster in the fourth inning. It was his only hit in four at-bats during the contest. He also walked once and scored two runs.
Prior to Monday's loss, Pederson was hitting .105 with one double and one RBI in his last six games.

Indians outfielder Michael Brantley went 3 for 4 at the plate during Monday's 7-1 win over the Rays.
Brantley scored one run and drove in a run when he singled in Jason Kipnis in the first inning. He also walked once.
Prior to his three-hit game Monday, Brantley was hitting .219 with one double and two RBI in his last eight games.

Blue Jays utility player Ryan Goins drew his second start this season in left field on Monday against the Red Sox. He has also made 26 starts at second base and 26 starts at shortstop.
Since batting .429 (6 for 14) with one home run, three doubles and nine RBI in a three-game span from June 12-14, Goins is batting just .148 (4 for 27) with no extra-base hits and one RBI in his last 11 games.

The Indians were blanked in a doubleheader Sunday for the first time in 40 years, but left fielder Michael Brantley was like a radio disc jockey - he was cranking out the hits.
Brantley managed three singles in eight at-bats in an otherwise horrible day for his team. His current four-game hitting streak ended a 2-for-19 slide and left his slash line at .294/.367/.429. But he has not homered since May 14.

Tigers' Yoenis Cespedes sees eight-game hitting streak end
Tigers left fielder Yoenis Cespedes went 0 for 4 in Sunday's win over the White Sox.
Cespedes also committed his fifth error of the season.
The hitless day ended an eight-game hitting streak for Cespedes. He hit .323 with .914 OPS over the streak.

Phillies outfielder Ben Revere and first baseman Ryan Howard are not in the lineup of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals.
In Game 1, Revere went 0 for 4 and Howard went 0 for 3 with a walk. Howard's performance saw him strike out three times. Playing first base for the Phillies in Game 2 will be Darin Ruf and manning center field will be Odubel Herrera.

Bryce Harper will get some rest in Game 2 of the Nationals' doubleheader with the Phillies on Sunday, sitting out of Washington's starting lineup.
Harper has been dealing with a sore right hamstring, and with the Nationals playing in a traditional doubleheader, the team got him out of the lineup after he went 1-for-4 in Washington's Game 1 win.
Harper is hitting .339 with 24 homers and 58 RBIs this season.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton underwent surgery Sunday to repair a fracture in his wrist, reports MLB.com.
Stanton suffered the injury during Friday's contest and he is expected to need 4-6 weeks to recover.
