Stanton went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a three-run double and two total runs scored in Thursday's 10-1 win over the Orioles.

Stanton has gone 6-for-19 with two homers and eight RBI over his last five games. He opened the scoring in the second inning with his homer before adding a bases-clearing double as part of a six-run rally in the sixth. This is the first year since 2018 that Stanton has collected 20 each of homers (27) and doubles (20), doing so in 112 contests. He's added a .235/.300/.481 slash line, 72 RBI and 49 runs scored while serving as the Yankees' designated hitter.

Burleson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

The Cardinals are facing a lefty in Kyle Freeland for the second day in a row, and the left-handed-hitting Burleson has been on the bench for both contests. Burleson hasn't made a start against a southpaw since Aug. 6 and looks to be viewed as a pure strong-side platoon player at this stage of the season. Ivan Herrera will replace him as the Cardinals' designated hitter.

Garver went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Garver launched his 14th homer of the season in the seventh inning, extending the Mariners' lead to 3-1 at the time. The single and round tripper he generated snapped an 0-for-14 skid that had encompassed his previous four games and served as his third multi-hit effort of September. Despite Wednesday's success, Garver is limping to the finish line of the 2024 regular season with a .171/.286/.333 slash line across 426 plate appearances.

Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Padres while also drawing a walk.

Ohtani walked in his first trip to the plate and advanced to second on a wild pitch from Dylan Cease before then scoring the Dodgers' first run on a Teoscar Hernandez single. The superstar slugger continued to come through in the clutch throughout the contest, giving Los Angeles the lead with an RBI double in the fourth, and again in the sixth with an RBI single while also going on to swipe his 56th bag of the campaign. Ohtani has now hit safely in eight straight games, batting .558 (19-for-34) over that stretch with six homers, 17 RBI, 12 runs and eight stolen bases. He's also registered multiple hits in four of his last six contests.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Burleson will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitter Lars Nootbaar while the Rockies send southpaw Austin Gomber to the hill. Ivan Herrera will replace Burleson as the Cardinals' designated hitter.

Alvarez (knee) will remain in Houston to work with the training staff and will miss the Astros' final series of the regular season this weekend in Cleveland, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Alvarez's regular season thus comes to a close, though manager Joe Espada noted that the slugger's sprained right knee is feeling better. Still, Alvarez has yet to resume baseball activities, so he'll continue to rehab back in Houston with the goal of returning in time for the start of the wild-card round, which begins Tuesday.

The Reds activated Martini (thumb) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to their Arizona Complex League affiliate Wednesday.

Martini is recovered from his thumb surgery, but the Reds have decided they didn't have a spot for him on their active roster right now. The 34-year-old has slashed .212/.272/.370 over 52 games with Cincinnati this season.

Manzardo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Reds.

Manzardo has gone 7-for-18 with three homers and four walks over his last eight games. In his last four starts, he's batted second after having previously been in the bottom half of the order regularly. The 24-year-old is up to five homers, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored and a .248/.299/.451 slash line through 50 major-league games this season.

The Cardinals placed Baker on the paternity list Tuesday.

Baker will likely miss the entirety of the three-game series in Colorado before rejoining the club this weekend in San Francisco. Victor Scott is taking Baker's spot on the Cardinals' roster.

Jimenez accepted Baltimore's decision to option him to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Jimenez had to approve the move to the minors due to his MLB service time, and he'll stick in the Orioles organization for the time being. The 27-year-old played in 33 games since being acquired from the White Sox and posted a .232/.270/.316 slash line with one homer in 100 plate appearances. Jimenez has a $16.5 million club option for 2025, but Baltimore is likely to pay the $3 million buyout.
