Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Dealing with neck discomfort
Alvarez is dealing with neck discomfort and has been sent back to Houston for further evaluation, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez's absence from the lineup for Monday's series opener in Tampa Bay was initially believed to be a maintenance day, but Astros manager Dusty Baker later clarified that the slugger has been experiencing neck pain for the past week, according to Rome . It's unclear at this time if the left-handed slugger is going to need to be placed on the injured list or if he'll be available at all for the three-game series against the Rays. For now, Alvarez should be considered day-to-day until the Astros reveal the results of his upcoming examination. Corey Julks and David Hensley should see the majority of reps while Alvarez is unavailable.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Launches homer Sunday
Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two total RBI in a 4-3 win against the Royals on Sunday.
Ohtani plated the Angels' first run with a first-inning sacrifice fly. He then followed back-to-back jacks by Taylor Ward and Mike Trout in the sixth with a homer of his own. The performance snapped a four-game slump at the plate during which Ohtani had gone 1-for-16 with no RBI.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: On base four times Sunday
Soler went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Guardians.
It's the second three-hit performance for Soler in the last five games, as he continues to put a slow start to the season behind him. Over the last 11 games, the 31-year-old is batting .343 (12-for-35) with five doubles, two homers, four RBI, six runs and an impressive seven walks, although the free passes could be less due to improved patience and more to the opposition recognizing him as one of the few threats in the Marlins' lineup. Even so, Soler's current .950 OPS on the year would be a career high if he can keep it up.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Red Sox's Justin Turner: On base four times in win
Turner went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-5 win over the Brewers.
Turner was a tough out Sunday but did most of his damage in an eight-run eighth inning. He led off the frame with a solo blast to left center and then later walked with the bases loaded and came around to score on a grand slam off the bat of Masataka Yoshida. The 38-year-old is sporting a four-game hit streak during which he's walked three times and hasn't struck out. He's been productive overall in the early going, slashing .286/.390/.417 with two homers, eight RBI, 13 runs and a 12:11 BB:K over 100 plate appearances.

The 28-year-old has left the yard twice over his last three games and is working on a nine-game hitting streak. He's been locked in at the plate throughout the majority of the early season, slashing .373/.422/.712 with five homers, 10 RBI, 11 runs and a 4:10 BB:K and is also near the top of the league with a 1.134 OPS.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Giants' Joc Pederson: Plates opening run in return
Pederson (wrist) went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Mets.
Pederson missed 11 days with the wrist injury, though he also returned as the designated hitter, which was where he played prior to his stint on the injured list. The 31-year-old opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, and he walked and scored the go-ahead run on a Mike Yastrzemski double in the eighth. Pederson is slashing .250/.364/.528 with two home runs, 10 RBI, four runs scored, two doubles and a triple through 44 plate appearances. He should be a fixture in the heart of the lineup versus right-handed pitchers.
