Jimenez (general soreness) is starting in left field and batting sixth Sunday versus the Tigers.

Jimenez was held out of Saturday's contest due to some general soreness, but he'll rejoin the starting nine after missing only one game. In three games since being activated from the injured list July 6 after missing over two months due to hamstring surgery, the 25-year-old has gone 3-for-13 with a home run, four RBI, two runs and five strikeouts.

Torrens (shoulder) was activated off the injured list Saturday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Shoulder inflammation had kept Torrens sidelined since late June, but he's ready to go after just a single rehab game. He'll back up Cal Raleigh behind the plate, with Andrew Knapp getting designated for assignment to clear a roster spot.

Turner will sit Saturday against the Cubs.

Turner is riding a seven-game hit streak and is hitting .471/.500/.824 with four homers in his last 10 contests, but the veteran will get a day off here in order to stay fresh. Max Muncy slides to third base in his absence.

Manager Tony La Russa didn't seem concerned about Jimenez's soreness, so it seems likely that he'll be available off the bench Saturday, and he should be considered day-to-day for now.

Reyes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Reyes continues to mash in July -- he already has four homers in eight games this month. He's added eight RBI, six runs scored and two doubles while reclaiming a near-everyday role in the lineup. For the season, the designated hitter is batting .212/.260/.373 with eight long balls, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored and seven doubles in 51 contests.

Jimenez isn't starting Saturday against Detroit.

Jimenez started in the last three games and went 3-for-13 with a homer, four RBI, two runs and five strikeouts. Leury Garcia will shift to left field while Josh Harrison starts at second base Saturday.

Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI in a 12-5 victory versus the Red Sox on Friday.

Carpenter once again took advantage of his opportunity to start, belting a run-scoring double in the second inning and a solo homer to right field in the fourth. The veteran has gone deep nine times and produced 20 RBI in only 70 plate appearances this season, and he's put together an impressive .305/.406/.814 slash line. Of note, Carpenter started in left field Friday -- per Marly Rivera of ESPN.com, it was his first start at that position since 2012. He's also played right field on two occasions this season. The positional versatility should allow manager Aaron Boone to get his bat in the lineup more frequently.

Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Orioles.

Ohtani entered the contest having gone just 3-for-21 in July before he notched his seventh three-hit performance of the season Friday. He produced what looked to be an insurance run with a solo shot in the top of the ninth inning, but Baltimore stormed back for three runs and a walkoff win in the bottom of the frame. Ohtani is up to 19 long balls and 54 RBI on the campaign, and he is slashing .262/.347/.502 through 352 plate appearances.
