  • Nick Solak DH | SD

Rangers' Nick Solak: Crosses home four times

Solak started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and three additional runs scored in Sunday's 12-6 win over the Blue Jays.

Solak's second-inning solo job was the lone offense through three innings before the powerful Texas lineup plated eight runs in innings four and five. With the Rangers facing their first left-handed starter, Solak made his first start, replacing Brad Miller. The Rangers rank first in the majors with 23 runs over three games and own a healthy .811 OPS. That means there's no reason for Solak to replace an existing starter, so he'll need to find opportunities off the bench or against southpaws.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Bashes two more homers

Buxton went 2-for-5 with two home runs in Sunday's 10-4 win over Seattle.

Buxton has homered in three consecutive at-bats over two games. He destroyed Grapefruit League pitching with a 1.608 OPS and has barely slowed down since the regular season started.

  • Cooper Hummel LF | HOU

Diamondbacks' Cooper Hummel: Crushes first big-league homer

Hummel went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 10-5 loss to the Padres.

Hummel walked in the third inning and made the final score more respectable with a 439-foot shot to center in the ninth. Manager Torey Lovullo appears to like the 27-year-old in the leadoff spot against southpaws, though he'll need to progress further than the weak side of a platoon to have consistent fantasy value. He also served as the catcher for the final inning, while starting catcher Carson Kelly pitched.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Rays' Harold Ramirez: Knocks three hits

Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, one run scored and an RBI in Sunday's 8-0 victory against Baltimore. He was caught stealing once.

Ramirez scored on Brandon Lowe's second-inning homer and later tapped an RBI single in the seventh. The 27-year-old started at first base for the Rays' first game and served as the designated hitter Sunday after getting Saturday off. As of now, it seems that he'll spend most of his playing time at those two spots with some occasional reps in Tampa Bay's crowded outfield.

  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

    Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Sitting Sunday

Beer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against San Diego.

Beer appears to be in the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter, as he'll hit the bench for the second time this season against a left-handed pitcher in Blake Snell. Cooper Hummel will bat leadoff as the designated hitter Sunday.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Sitting against southpaw

Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Marlins, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Pederson went 1-for-5 with a walk through the first two games of the campaign and will take a seat Sunday with left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound for Miami. Heliot Ramos, Mauricio Dubon and Austin Slater will start from left to right in the outfield in the series finale.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: On bench versus lefty

Belt is not in the lineup Sunday against the Marlins, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Left-hander Trevor Rogers is starting Sunday for Miami, so Belt will head to the bench for the first time this season. Darin Ruf will start at first base in his place while Wilmer Flores serves as the designated hitter.

  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Not in Sunday's lineup

Brantley is not in Sunday's lineup against the Angels.

Manager Dusty Baker noted that he plans to give his veterans regular days off early in the season, and Brantley's absence from the lineup falls in line with that plan. Jose Siri will start in Brantley's absence while playing in center field and hitting first.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: On bench vs. lefty

Blackmon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Blackmon is 1-for-9 with a double, an RBI and four strikeouts over the first two games of the season and will take a seat Sunday with southpaw Julio Urias on the mound for Los Angeles. Randal Grichuk will man right field with Yonathan Daza starting in center for the series finale.

  • Pirates' Daniel Vogelbach: Absent from Sunday's lineup

Vogelbach is not starting Sunday against the Cardinals, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Vogelbach started and led off in each of the team's first two games. However, with lefty Steven Matz on the mound, he will remain on the bench. Yoshi Tsutsugo will serve as the designated hitter while Michael Chavis will start at first base and hit third.
