Martinez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs in a 7-4 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

The veteran crossed the plate after doubling in the sixth inning and went deep to right field for a solo homer in the eighth. He has now reached base seven times in nine plate appearances over his past two games and is batting a robust .305 on the campaign while racking up 20 homers, 26 doubles and 64 RBI.

Harper will have an X-ray after fouling a ball off his foot Wednesday against the Yankees, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

The outfielder didn't exit the game, but he was in visible pain after a foul tip hit the top of his foot. Details about the X-ray results and Harper's status going forward should become available Thursday.

Mercedes announced his retirement in an Instagram post Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Mercedes hit .309 with four home runs and 10 RBI after being optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on July 2. Chances of the 28-year-old rookie getting recalled by the White Sox this season were slim, especially with the looming returns of Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) and Luis Robert (hip). If this is indeed the end of Mercedes' MLB career, he retires with a .270 average and seven home runs in 241 at-bats, all but one of which came in 2021.

Dickerson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer during Tuesday's contest, but he'll take a seat Wednesday with lefty Julio Urias pitching for Los Angeles. LaMonte Wade will shift to left field while Darin Ruf starts at first base.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Giants that Turner (knee) won't start Wednesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Turner will get Wednesday off to heal up after he was forced out of Tuesday's game when he was struck in the left knee with a pitch. He was diagnosed with nothing more than a bruise after the game, leaving the Dodgers optimistic Turner will avoid a trip to the 10-day injured list. Turner could still be available off the bench Wednesday, but Roberts would presumably prefer to stay away from him, if possible.

Ramirez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Ramirez has recorded hits in each of his four appearances since the All-Star break, and he's gone 4-for-14 with two RBI, a walk and three strikeouts during that time. Franmil Reyes will start in right field while Bobby Bradley serves as the designated hitter.

Stanton went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's win over the Phillies.

Stanton ended a three-game hitless streak with a single in the fifth inning, then he snapped an eight-game homer drought with a seventh-inning blast off reliever Brandon Kintzler. The slugger now has 16 dingers on the year, but he's still hitting just .224 with a meager .671 OPS across 52 plate appearances this month.

McCutchen went 1-for-4 with a home run and a walk in Tuesday's loss against the Yankees.

McCutchen has gone yard in back-to-back games for the second time in 2021, with both instances coming during the current month. He's hitting just .222 across 45 at-bats this month but has four homers and 11 RBI in that stretch, and his 17 dingers on the year are his highest mark since 2018, when he socked 20 long balls across 155 games.

Brantley went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over Cleveland.

Brantley notched a double in the third, but his biggest hit game during the fifth when he plated two on a single to right field to cap off a six-run inning. Tuesday was his fourth multi-hit effort over his last six games. The 34-year-old drools over right-handed pitching, slashing .376/.424/.556 with five homers, 24 RBI and 28 runs scored in 205 plate appearances. He'll have a prime opportunity for another impactful game Wednesday when Cleveland sends Eli Morgan (7.86 ERA) to the bump.

Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Dickerson gave the Giants an early lead when he took Darien Nunez deep to right field for a two-run shot in the second inning. The homer was his ninth of the season and third in July. Dickerson has six hits in his past 18 at-bats but is batting only .234 overall.
