Yarbrough (head) will throw a three-inning live batting practice Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The Royals placed Yarbrough on the injured list May 8 after he got hit in the head by a line drive, and they later shifted him to the 60-day IL. He won't be eligible to return until July, but Wednesday's session will be useful in determining next steps for the 31-year-old southpaw.

Taylor (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

After throwing a bullpen session Sunday, Taylor will progress to facing live hitters for the first time since landing on the IL in late May. He will likely require a few more throwing sessions and a rehab assignment before making his return.

Staumont (neck) played catch Monday and will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

MRI results revealed Staumont's neck strain wasn't as severe as initially thought, so the 29-year-old reliever began throwing slightly ahead of schedule. He will likely require multiple bullpen sessions before heading on a rehab assignment, meaning he's likely to return near the beginning of July.

The Mariners selected Adcock from Double-A Arkansas on Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

With Penn Murfee (elbow) headed back to the injured list, the Mariners will call on Adcock to fill Murfee's spot in the bullpen. The 26-year-old righty has been impressive in Double-A, logging a 2.08 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, two saves and 13 strikeouts in 13 innings across 12 appearances. Robbie Ray (elbow) was moved to the 60-day injured list to make room for Adcock on the 40-man roster.

The Mariners placed Murfee on the 15-day injured list Monday with right elbow inflammation, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Murfee spent over a month on the IL with right elbow inflammation before returning Sunday. Now, he will be shelved for another 15 days with a similar injury. Because this is now Murfee's second elbow injury already this season, it's possible he's facing another extended absence. Ty Adcock was selected from Double-A Arkansas to fill Murfee's roster spot.

Bradford appears likely to start for the Rangers on Tuesday against the Angels in place of Jon Gray (blister), Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Manager Bruce Bochy wouldn't reveal Gray's replacement when asked Monday, but Bradford was spotted at Globe Life Field. The left-hander has been roughed up for eight runs over 10 innings in two starts with the Rangers this season, although he's posted a 1.82 ERA in 10 outings with Triple-A Round Rock.

Englert will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus Atlanta.

Englert will pick up his first MLB start Monday, but because he hasn't covered more than three innings in any of his 21 appearances on the season, he's unlikely to work deep enough into the contest to qualify for a win. The Tigers are treating Monday's contest as a bullpen day and use a number of relievers after Englert exits the contest.

Murfee will undergo an MRI on his injured right elbow Monday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Murfee was making his first appearance Sunday versus the Angels following a five-plus week stint on the injured list with an elbow issue, so this is ominous news. The first injury was referred to as inflammation, but an MRI could potentially show something more serious.

Mayers (1-2) took the loss Sunday versus the Orioles, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings.

The Royals were able to overcome the three-spot opener Jonathan Hernandez gave up in the first inning, but Mayers struggled in the third and fourth innings. He's worked behind an opener each of his last three outings to mixed results -- he's given up 11 runs (10 earned) over 14 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 5.06 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB over 21.1 innings. If he continues in his current role, he's lined up to start or pitch as a bulk reliever over the weekend at home versus the Angels.

Fairbanks (hip) is scheduled to throw a second live batting practice session Monday with the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Fairbanks joined the FCL club over the weekend and already threw one live session, which apparently went well. Assuming Monday's workout goes without a hitch, Fairbanks could avoid a formal minor-league rehab assignment entirely and make his return to the Tampa Bay bullpen by the end of the week. Fairbanks' placement on the 15-day injured list is retroactive to May 28, so he'll be eligible for activation as soon as Tuesday.
