  • Cesar Valdez RP | LAA

Angels' Cesar Valdez: Removed from 40-man roster

The Angels designated Valdez for assignment Tuesday.

Valdez appeared in just one game with the Angels before being booted from the roster, and he allowed two runs -- one earned -- over an inning in that outing. If he goes unclaimed, Valdez could report back to Triple-A Salt Lake to provide depth in the minors.

  • Jimmy Herget RP | COL

Angels' Jimmy Herget: Recalled from Salt Lake

The Angels recalled Herget from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Herget is taking the place of Cesar Valdez after Valdez was designated for assignment. The right-hander struggled while allowing six runs over 8.2 inning in his previous time up with the Angels, but he'll get another chance to help in the mid-to-late innings for the Los Angeles bullpen this time around.

  • Andres Munoz RP | SEA

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Rehab assignment not coming soon

Munoz (shoulder) underwent a PRP shot last week, and he won't be ready to go out on a rehab assignment until the end of the month, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Munoz underwent an MRI after not feeling right after his last bullpen session, and the results revealed minor inflammation in his right shoulder. What was originally announced as a minor injury that could only require the right-hander to miss the minimum 15 days has now seen him miss over a month, and it'll be at least another three weeks before he's able to return to the Seattle bullpen. Paul Sewald will continue to see the majority of save chances for Seattle while Munoz recovers.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Royals' Ryan Yarbrough: Won't need surgery

Yarbrough (head) has been discharged from the hospital and will not require surgery.

Yarbrough has entered the concussion protocol and will continue with follow-ups as required for the next month at least. The left-handed hurler took a line drive off of his head in Sunday's outing against the Athletics and was placed on the 15-day injured list with the resulting fractures. There's no timetable for his return to the mound, but it's obviously a positive development that Yarbrough won't require an operation.

  • Adam Cimber RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Adam Cimber: Closing in on rehab assignment

Cimber (back) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Assuming he bounces back well, Cimber could be ready for a rehab assignment. He's been out since late April with a back injury but doesn't seem too far removed from rejoining Toronto's bullpen.

  • Beau Brieske RP | DET

Tigers' Beau Brieske: Resumes throwing program

Brieske (elbow) resumed throwing Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Briekse has already experiencing a couple of setbacks, but he's on the right track again and will begin building up toward mound work. The 25-year-old has been out all season due to upper-arm trouble that was eventually diagnosed as ulnar nerve entrapment.

  • White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Moving rehab to Triple-A

Crochet (elbow) is moving up to Triple-A Charlotte to continue his rehab assignment, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Crochet was knocked around for four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings covering three rehab appearances with Double-A Binghamton. More important is the fact he seems to be feeling healthy as he nears the end of his long rehab from Tommy John surgery. Crochet is preparing to serve as a multi-inning reliever with the White Sox.

  • Drew Rom RP | ATH

Orioles' Drew Rom: Recalled from Triple-A

Rom was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk by the Orioles on Tuesday.

It will be the first stint in the big leagues for Rom, who was added to the Orioles' 40-man roster over the offseason. The left-hander has been starting at Norfolk, posting a 2.87 ERA in six outings, but he'll be pegged for relief duty in Baltimore for now, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com.

  • Keegan Akin RP | BAL

Orioles' Keegan Akin: Moved to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Akin to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Akin claimed a spot in the Baltimore bullpen out of camp this spring, but he'll head down to the farm after struggling to a 5.91 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 13 appearances covering 10.2 innings. The 28-year-old lefty posted a sharp 3.20 ERA across 81.2 frames with the O's in 2022.

  • Greg Weissert RP | BOS

Yankees' Greg Weissert: Recalled from Triple-A

The Yankees recalled Weissert from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Weissert will rejoin the Yankees' bullpen ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Athletics. The 28-year-old righty holds a 2.08 ERA through 4.1 innings of relief this season at the major-league level.
