  • Tommy Kahnle RP | DET

Tigers' Tommy Kahnle: Continues strong play

Kahnle tossed a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts in Monday's 6-2 win over the Yankees, and his ERA remains at 0.00 for the season.

It wasn't a save situation for Kahnle, but he still managed to wrap things up in the ninth inning against the team he played for the last two seasons. The righty has yet to allow a run so far in 2025 across four appearances, and he's emerged as the top candidate for saves in Detroit's bullpen. With Jason Foley working at the Triple-A level, Kahnle could tighten his grip on the closer role if he continues to pitch well, though Beau Brieske and Tyler Holton may remain in the mix for saves as well.

  • Kaleb Ort RP | LAA

Astros' Kaleb Ort: Set for rehab assignment

Ort (oblique) will make his first minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Ort suffered a left oblique strain early in spring training and he's been working his way back since then. The right-hander will likely require multiple rehab outings before he'd ultimately be able to be cleared to return to the Astros' 26-man roster, but Tuesday is a major step in his recovery.

  • Albert Suarez SP | BAL

Orioles' Albert Suarez: Moved to 60-day IL

The Orioles transferred Suarez (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Suarez was placed on the 15-day IL in late March with what the team had referred to as shoulder inflammation. However, the Orioles are now labeling his injury as a right subscapularis strain, and Suarez's absence will be much longer than initially anticipated, likely costing him months, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. Baltimore acquired left-hander Grant Wolfram via trade Monday and shifted Suarez to the 60-day IL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Orioles' Grant Wolfram: Headed to Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Wolfram from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for outfielder Daz Cameron and cash considerations, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Milwaukee designated Wolfram for assignment earlier Monday, but the left-hander will regain a 40-man roster spot as he moves on to a new organization. Wolfrman has yet to make his MB debut and will begin his time in the Baltimore organization at Triple-A Norfolk. Wolfram appeared in 44 games for Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers organization last season and finished with a 3.34 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and six saves across 56.2 innings.

  • Troy Taylor P | SEA

    Mariners' Troy Taylor: Nearing return

Taylor (lat) will make another rehab appearance with Triple-A Tacoma later this week before being evaluated for a potential return to the Mariners' bullpen, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Taylor has already made two appearances with Tacoma, allowing two runs with a 2:0 K:BB over 1.2 innings. If he gets through his next rehab outing without any hiccups he could be ready to rejoin the active roster for the weekend series against the Rangers. Taylor has been working his way back from a right lat strain.

  • Luis Contreras RP | HOU

Astros' Luis Contreras: Optioned to Triple-A

The Astros optioned Contreras to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.

Contreras earned a spot on the Astros' Opening Day roster, but across four bullpen appearances he's logged an 8.44 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 5.1 innings. He'll look to regain his form in the minors while Logan VanWey gets the call-up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Logan VanWey RP | HOU

Astros' Logan VanWey: Officially added to roster

The Astros selected VanWey's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

VanWey, 26, had allowed two runs with a 7:2 K:BB over his first four relief innings with Sugar Land. He will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

  • Ryan Johnson SP | LAA

Angels' Ryan Johnson: Back from paternity leave

The Angels activated Johnson (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Johnson was away for the weekend series against the Guardians, but he will rejoin the bullpen ahead of the Angels' series against the Rays that begins Tuesday. Michael Darrell-Hicks was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

  • Red Sox's Cooper Criswell: Sent down to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Criswell to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Criswell was needed for three innings in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals, allowing five runs (three earned) while being credited with a save. The Red Sox are replacing him with a fresh arm in calling up Robert Stock.

  • Angels' Michael Darrell-Hicks: Sent back to minors

The Angels optioned Darrell-Hicks to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Darrell-Hicks received his first call-up to the big leagues prior to Sunday's game against the Guardians, but he went unused out of the bullpen in the Angels' 6-2 win and will now head back to the minors. The Angels have yet to announce a corresponding transaction, but Darrell-Hicks' spot on the 26-man active roster will presumably go to right-hander Ryan Johnson, who is set to return from the paternity list ahead of Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay.
