  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

    Tigers' Shelby Miller: Return imminent

Miller (elbow) will be activated from the 15-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Miller is done with his rehab assignment and has already rejoined the Tigers in Texas for their series versus the Rangers, but his activation will have to wait at least one day. He's been out since mid-May with right ulnar nerve inflammation in his elbow.

  • Astros' Forrest Whitley: Resumes throwing at Triple-A

Whitley (elbow) has resumed a throwing program at Triple-A Sugar Land, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Whitley landed on the 7-day injured list at Sugar Land in late April with a sore right elbow but is finally beginning the ramp-up process. He most recently threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session, so the right-hander wouldn't appear too far off from a return.

  • Jordan Romano RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Receives injection in elbow

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Romano received an anti-inflammatory injection for his right elbow Sunday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Romano will be shut down for 3-to-5 days before planning to resume a throwing program later this week. The reliever received a similar injection for the same injury back in late March and wound up missing about three weeks of action, although it's not clear whether a similar timetable is expected this time around. Yimi Garcia collected a save for the Blue Jays in Sunday's win over the Pirates and is expected to serve as the team's primary closer while Romano is out.

  • Thyago Vieira RP | ARI

Orioles' Thyago Vieira: Exits 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Vieira for assignment Monday.

Vieira's stint in Baltimore was brief and unproductive, as he walked four, allowed three runs and didn't record an out in his lone appearance for the Orioles. It's the second time since late May that Vieira has been designated for assignment, as the move had been made previously by the Brewers before they traded him to Baltimore.

  • Nick Vespi RP | PHI

Orioles' Nick Vespi: Recalled from Triple-A

The Orioles recalled Vespi from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Baltimore is swapping in Vespi in its bullpen for right-hander Thyago Vieira, who was designated for assignment. The left-handed Vespi has contributed one scoreless appearance during his brief time in the majors in 2024.

  • Alimber Santa RP | HOU

Astros' Alimber Santa: Returns from injured list

Single-A Fayetteville reinstated Santa (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Santa made his season debut for Fayetteville on Wednesday, striking out three over two perfect innings. The 21-year-old right-hander struck out 119 batters over 87.1 innings at the Single-A level in 2023, but a bloated 17.9 percent walk rate limited his overall effectiveness.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Notches fourth hold

Green walked two and struck out two in a scoreless sixth inning Sunday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Pirates.

The right-hander had trouble finding the plate, tossing only 15 of 27 pitches for strikes, but Green was able to escape the jam he created while protecting a 4-3 lead. With Jordan Romano (elbow) back on the IL, it looks like Yimi Garcia will get the first chance to fill the closer role, with Green remaining part of the setup crew.

  • Nick Vespi RP | PHI

Orioles' Nick Vespi: Promotion could be coming

Vespi will travel with the Orioles to Toronto for their upcoming series against the Blue Jays and could be formally recalled from Triple-A Norfolk as soon as Monday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Vespi hasn't officially been promoted yet, but the move appears to be imminent. The left-handed reliever has made one appearance with the Orioles this season, tossing a scoreless frame in St. Louis on May 22.

  • Austin Adams RP | BOS

Athletics' Austin Adams: Takes first loss Sunday

Adams (0-1) took the loss against Atlanta on Sunday, allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks over one inning. He struck out two.

Adams' eventful inning saw him sandwich swinging strikeouts of Ozzie Albies and Orlando Arcia around a walk and a pair of doubles, including Sean Murphy's go-ahead RBI two-bagger. The right-hander saw his streak of seven consecutive scoreless appearances snapped with that hit, but he retains an impressive 2.70 ERA alongside 14 holds over 28 appearances.

  • Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Works in relief Saturday

Garabito struck out one and allowed two hits and one walk over a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Marlins.

After giving up one run in a 3.2-inning start in his MLB debut May 26 versus the Twins, Garabito went nearly a week without any usage before he finished off Saturday's blowout win. Despite making his most recent appearance in relief, Garabito could be an option to make another start either Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Tigers, with Dane Dunning presumably taking the hill for one of those games and Garabito or Jose Urena getting the nod for the other contest. Texas could get Jon Gray (groin) back from the injured list as soon as this weekend, so Garabito likely won't be in line for any additional starts in the near future if he does in fact re-enter the rotation against Detroit.
