  • Jimmy Lambert RP | CHW

White Sox's Jimmy Lambert: Opens season on 60-day IL

The White Sox placed Lambert (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Lambert is recovering from a right rotator cuff strain, and though he's not expected to need surgery to address the injury, he'll still be in store for a prolonged period of rest and rehab before he's ready to pitch again. When healthy last season, Lambert served mostly in a middle-relief role for Chicago, logging three holds and one save to go along with a 5.26 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 37.2 innings.

  • Jacob Webb RP | CHC

Orioles' Jacob Webb: Lands on paternity list

The Orioles placed Webb (personal) on the paternity list Thursday.

Webb had been on track to secure a spot in the Orioles' Opening Day bullpen at the conclusion of spring training, but he'll have to wait a bit to make his season debut while he takes some time away from the team to observe the birth of his child. Per MLB rules, Webb can stay on the paternity list for 1-to-3 days before he would have to be added back to the 26-man active roster.

  • Nick Vespi RP | PHI

Orioles' Nick Vespi: Summoned from Triple-A

The Orioles recalled Vespi from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Baltimore initially dismissed Vespi from the competition for a place in the Opening Day bullpen just over a week ago, but a spot opened up Thursday with Jacob Webb (personal) going on the paternity list. Vespi will likely be ticketed for lower-leverage work out of the bullpen for the duration of his stay with Baltimore.

  • Sammy Peralta RP | MIL

White Sox's Sammy Peralta: Cast off 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Peralta for assignment Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

After being moved off the 40-man roster, Peralta will now be subject to the waiver process if the White Sox aren't able to find a team willing to trade for the right-handed reliever. Peralta covered 20 innings out of the Chicago bullpen in 2023, logging a 4.05 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB.

  • Bennett Sousa RP | HOU

Astros' Bennett Sousa: Placed on injured list

The Astros placed Sousa on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left shoulder inflammation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear when Sousa suffered the injury, but he'll be sidelined for at least the first couple weeks of the season. According to McTaggart, Sousa said his injury is considered nerve-related, and the issue is similar to one that he contended with last year. The left-handed reliever should be in the mix for a spot in the bullpen once he's healthy.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Astros' Tayler Scott: Joins big-league roster

The Astros selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Scott had a strong spring to win a spot in the Astros' Opening Day bullpen. He figures to be used in low-leverage spots by manager Joe Espada.

  • Nick Burdi RP | NYM

Yankees' Nick Burdi: Added to roster

The Yankees selected Burdi's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Burdi has struggled to avoid the injured list during his professional career, but he's healthy now and won a bullpen spot after an impressive spring. The hard-throwing righty should work in the middle innings to begin the season.

  • McKinley Moore RP | NYY

Yankees' McKinley Moore: Goes on IL with knee injury

The Yankees placed Moore on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right knee bursitis.

Moore didn't pitch this spring because of the injury, and it's not clear how long he might be out. The Yankees claimed the right-handed reliever off waivers from the Phillies back in February.

  • Angels' Robert Stephenson: IL move made official

The Angels placed Stephenson on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right shoulder inflammation.

The 31-year-old recently resumed throwing but remains without a timetable to make his season debut. Once healthy, Stephenson is poised to serve in a setup role in front of closer Carlos Estevez.

  • Guardians' Peter Strzelecki: Acquired by Cleveland

The Guardians acquired Strzelecki from the Diamondbacks on Thursday for cash considerations and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Strzelecki had been designated for assignment by Arizona and has now found a new home. The reliever will head to Columbus for now but should be an option for Cleveland's bullpen eventually.
