  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Nationals' Hunter Harvey: Secures fifth save

Harvey struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Padres.

Harvey has collected a save in each of his last two outings, though he had been tagged for four runs (three earned) in his three prior appearances. The right-hander is up to five saves this year, three of which have come since May 31. He has a 3.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB over 32.2 innings while adding five blown saves and 11 holds. Harvey is likely to continue to serve in the Nationals' closer committee, sharing ninth-inning work primarily with Kyle Finnegan.

  • Robert Suarez RP | ATL

Padres' Robert Suarez: Could face hitters soon

Suarez (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday and could face hitters "imminently," AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Suarez has yet to play this season after experiencing arm stiffness and elbow inflammation in mid-March during spring training. However, he's tossed multiple bullpens over the past few weeks and now appears set to take the next step in his recovery. Suarez will almost certainly require a minor-league rehab stint before joining the San Diego bullpen, but he could return in the first half of July.

  • Luke Jackson RP | SEA

Giants' Luke Jackson: Battling lower-back tightness

Jackson was pulled from his appearance Saturday due to lower-back tightness, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The severity of Jackson's injury remains unknown, but now we know for sure that it's not related to the elbow he had Tommy John surgery on last season. The 31-year-old reliever holds a 2.16 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through 8.1 innings since returning from the injured list May 31.

  • Luke Jackson RP | SEA

Giants' Luke Jackson: Exits with injury

Jackson was removed from Saturday's game against Arizona with an apparent injury, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Jackson immediately signaled toward the Giants' dugout to come get him after throwing a pitch in the sixth inning. The 31-year-old reliever missed two months at the beginning of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The Giants will take a look at him and provide further updates in the near future, but the fact Jackson immediately knew something was wrong is not a positive sign.

  • Raymond Kerr RP | ATL

Padres' Ray Kerr: Back in minors

The Padres optioned Kerr to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Kerr made four appearances out of the bullpen after being called up June 16, allowing four earned runs through 4.2 innings of work. After a subpar MLB stint, he'll return to Triple-A to make room for Matt Waldron on the active roster, as Waldron will get a spot start Saturday against the Nationals.

  • Brandon Hughes RP | CHC

Cubs' Brandon Hughes: Out for season

Hughes will undergo knee alignment surgery at the end of June and will be held out for the rest of the season, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Hughes has battled knee problems all season -- most recently landing on the injured list June 13 with left knee inflammation -- and the issue is apparently severe enough to warrant season-ending surgery. A move to the 60-day IL is certain to come eventually, and Hughes will end 2023 with a 7.24 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a 17:8 K:BB through 13.2 frames.

  • Codi Heuer RP | BAL

Cubs' Codi Heuer: Out for season

Heuer underwent surgery on his fractured right elbow Friday and is out for the rest of the season, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Heuer was in the process of working his way back from Tommy John surgery when he suffered another injury in his elbow during a rehab assignment. He has not pitched in the majors since 2021, and now he will have to wait until 2024 for his next opportunity.

  • Alan Busenitz RP | CIN

Reds' Alan Busenitz: Back in minors

The Reds optioned Busenitz to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

With the return of Graham Ashcraft (calf) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Busenitz will head back to Triple-A three days after being called up. The 32-year-old lefty didn't appear in a game during his latest stint and still carries a 4.50 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through four innings in the majors this season.

  • Jordan Hicks RP | CHW

Cardinals' Jordan Hicks: Unavailable due to illness

Hicks will not be available for Saturday's game against the Cubs due to illness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Jordan Walker was forced out of the lineup with an illness Wednesday, and Hicks is now facing a similar issue. Any save opportunity would likely be handled by Giovanny Gallegos on Saturday.

  • Camilo Doval RP | PIT

Giants' Camilo Doval: Picks up 21st save

Doval picked up the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks. He tossed a perfect inning with no strikeouts.

Doval is now tied for third in MLB in total saves this year with 21. The right-hander has allowed only one run in the month of June, and he is on pace to pass his career-high mark of 27 saves that he set last year. The third-year veteran has firmly established himself as one of the better relief pitchers in fantasy at this point.
