Machado was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

The righty appeared in four games after being recalled June 27, allowing one run and striking out six in four innings while not issuing any walks. Machado gets demoted to make way for now-healthy setup man Daniel Hudson, but his success could lead to another big-league opportunity at some point this season.

The Nationals reinstated Hudson (elbow) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Hudson, who was placed on the IL on June 12 with right elbow inflammation, returns to reinforce the Nationals' injury-plagued relief corps. Before the injury, the righty posted a 2.59 ERA, struck out 35 batters and recorded 12 holds in 24.1 innings. Andres Machado was optioned to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move.

Suter (8-4) took the loss in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Mets. He allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk while failing to record an out. He also hit a batter.

Suter allowed the first two batters he faced to reach before Jeff McNeil's walkoff two-run single completed the Mets' comeback. After a run of seven straight scoreless outings spanning 6.2 innings, Suter has given up three runs (two earned) in his last two appearances. For the year, he has a 3.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 41:15 K:BB, five holds and five blown saves through 41.1 innings.

Hader allowed a solo home run and struck out two in one inning in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Mets. He was charged with a blown save.

The southpaw gave up a game-tying solo shot to Jose Peraza in the bottom of the seventh inning. This was Hader's first blown save of the year -- he had converted his previous 20 chances with little trouble. The hiccup Wednesday ticked his ERA up to a still-superb 0.80 with a 0.74 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB across 33.2 innings.

Diaz (3-2) allowed an unearned run while walking two, hitting a batter and striking out two in one inning, earning the win in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Milwaukee.

Diaz loaded the bases and plunked Christian Yelich to force in a run, but he was able to limit the damage. Jeff McNeil's two-RBI walkoff single gave Diaz his second win in his last four outings. The Mets' closer has a steady 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB across 33.2 innings while also converting 18 of 19 save chances.

Crowe allowed two runs on six hits and a pair of walks in 4.2 innings, striking out four and not factoring into the decision of Wednesday's 14-3 loss to Atlanta.

The righty has now allowed two runs in four of his last five starts and has an ERA of 6.05 in 2021. Crowe has failed to provide significant length in his starts this season, completing six innings just once in twelve outings. Steven Brault (lat) may usurp Crowe in the rotation once healthy, but he isn't expected back until the end of July, meaning the latter will likely remain in the starting mix following the All-Star break.

Abbot was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The right-hander will rejoin the big-league club after spending the past couple weeks in the minors. He's worked out of the bullpen for the Cubs this season with four runs allowed over 8.1 frames in four appearances, but he's operated as a starter at Triple-A. Abbott and Trevor Williams should be in the mix for a spot start Sunday with Jake Arrieta (hamstring) landing on the injured list.

Manager Dave Roberts said White will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

White has bounced back in forth between the majors and Oklahoma City since being first recalled in late April. The right-hander currently holds a 3.77 ERA through 14.1 big-league innings, and he should have a decent chance of appearing in the Dodgers' bullpen game Wednesday.

Reed will start Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Reed made his major-league debut as a reliever in Tuesday's game against Miami and allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning. It's not yet clear how long he'll be able to last Wednesday, as the Dodgers plan to treat the contest as a bullpen game.

Alexander allowed two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning against Miami on Tuesday but did not give up any runs.

The left-hander came on in the ninth inning of a tie game and allowed a single and a walk to the first two batters he faced. After striking out Joe Panik, Alexander allowed an infield single that loaded the bases. He then picked up another strikeout -- this time getting Jazz Chisholm swinging -- before giving way to Blake Treinen, who ended the frame by inducing a groundout. In two appearances since coming off the injured list Monday, Alexander has pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out three.
