Hernandez was diagnosed with a right quad strain after exiting Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Hernandez had to be helped off the field in the top of the sixth inning after he pulled up while running from third base to home plate. It's not yet clear whether the injury will force the right-hander to miss additional time. If he's able to make his next turn through the rotation, he tentatively lines up to face the Rockies at home Tuesday.

Hernandez was removed from Thursday's game against the Pirates in the top of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hernandez singled in the top of the sixth inning Thursday and was later brought in to score, but he appeared to pull up while running from third to home, and he had to be helped off the field as a result. The right-hander was making his season debut after he missed the start of the year due to a biceps issue, but the nature and severity of his most recent injury aren't yet clear. Prior to his departure, Hernandez allowed one run on three hits and no walks while striking out six across five innings.

Davidson allowed one hit and five walks while striking out five in 5.2 scoreless innings during Thursday's win over the Nationals. He didn't factor into the decision.

Davidson made his second major-league appearance of the year Thursday, and he was much more effective than when he allowed three runs in six innings during his season debut. The southpaw had some issues with command but held the Nationals scoreless to begin the game. However, he was forced to settle for a no-decision since Atlanta didn't get on the board until the sixth inning.

Hicks (elbow) will likely be out until at least August, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Hicks was placed on the 60-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation May 14, and he's still resting after he received an injection in his elbow in mid-May. Manager Mike Shildt called it a "best-case scenario" for the right-hander to return in August, but a better timetable for his return could be revealed once he resumes throwing.

Webb was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Thursday.

Webb had struggled for most of the season, and he'll be cast off the 40-man roster after he allowed eight runs (six earned) on five hits and four walks in 1.1 innings across his last two outings. The southpaw posted a 13.22 ERA and 2.51 WHIP in 16.1 innings across 22 relief appearances to begin the year. Left-hander Andrew Miller (toe) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Thursday that Soriano has been removed from his rehab assignment after experiencing some renewed discomfort in his surgically repaired right elbow, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

Soriano, who is working back from the Tommy John procedure he underwent in February 2020, will be evaluated in Pittsburgh in the coming days before the team decides on his next course of treatment. At the very least, Soriano will likely be shut down for at least a couple of weeks, which could be enough to delay his return from the 60-day injured list until after the All-Star break.

The Brewers recalled Milner from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

He'll take the spot on the 26-man active roster that belonged to Alec Bettinger, who was optioned to Nashville on Wednesday. Milner will give the Milwaukee bullpen a left-handed option who's capable of working multiple innings.

The Pirates optioned Crowe to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Crowe's demotion comes as little surprise after he was lit up for 11 earned runs on 13 hits and four walks in 5.1 innings between his last two starts. Chase De Jong will temporarily take over Crowe's spot as Pittsburgh's No. 5 starter, but he may only be keeping a spot warm in the rotation for Trevor Cahill (calf), who could return from the injured list within the next week or two.

The Marlins activated Hernandez (biceps) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Pirates, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hernandez built up to 79 pitches in his third and final rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville on May 28, so he should have a relatively soft restriction with his workload while he takes the hill for Miami for the first time since April 3. His return should fortify what's been one of the National League's stronger rotations this season, with all four other Marlins starters (Sandy Alcantara, Trevor Rogers, Pablo Lopez and Cody Poteet) holding down ERAs below 3.75. Hernandez was effective at making bats miss during his rehab assignment, racking up 17 punchouts over 12.1 innings.

Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Vesia has thrown 10.2 innings of relief for the Dodgers this season but hasn't had much success. His 33.3 percent strikeout rate is strong but hasn't been nearly enough to offset his 22.9 percent walk rate and a shockingly low 10.0 percent groundball rate. The left-hander's 5.91 ERA could be much higher if not for a .059 BABIP.
