Sands tossed a perfect ninth frame to earn a save Tuesday over the Rangers.

Sands needed just nine pitches to retire the side for his third save of the season and his first since May 16. Sands had blown his previous two save opportunities and Tuesday marked only his second scoreless outing in his last seven appearances. Saves are far and few between for the Twins, but it seems Sands is in the mix for more in the final week along with Kody Funderburk.

Megill (elbow) had a successful multi-inning bullpen session Tuesday and is slated to face hitters Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

If things go well Friday, Megill appears in line to be activated from the 15-day injured list for the final game of the regular season Sunday versus the Reds. He would make an appearance that day as he gears up for the postseason. Megill has missed all of September with a right flexor strain.

Zimmermann (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout over six innings against the Padres.

Zimmermann ran into early trouble, giving up a grand slam to Ryan O'Hearn in the first inning and a two-run homer to Luis Arraez in the second. It was the veteran's first MLB start of 2025 and his first big-league appearance since 2023. He spent most of this season with Triple-A Nashville, where he logged a 4.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 28 outings (21 starts) and 138 innings.

Lord (5-9) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four in six innings.

Lord worked four scoreless frames before Atlanta launched solo homers in the fifth and sixth to go ahead 2-1. Lord's results were extremely similar to his last time out when he faced Atlanta at home last week, though this time he was able to make it through six innings. Lord's allowed three runs or fewer in all four of his September starts and is tentatively set to make one final start this weekend against the White Sox.

Munoz picked up the save Tuesday against the Rockies, striking out two over a perfect inning.

Munoz carved through the Rockies in the ninth inning, notching two strikeouts to preserve a Mariners win and clinch a postseason berth. The hard-throwing righty has been dominant all season, logging a 1.47 ERA and 0.99 WHIP across 61.1 innings. His 38 saves rank third in the majors, behind only Robert Suarez and Carlos Estevez.

Iglesias worked around a walk to pitch a scoreless ninth inning and earn the save over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Iglesias needed just 10 pitches to get through the frame to pick up his 28th save on the year. He's now allowed just one run since July 28 and has converted all 17 of his save chances since then. Iglesias has put together another productive campaign for Atlanta, posting a 3.31 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 70:15 K:BB in 64.1 innings.

Aldegheri (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Royals. He struck out three.

Aldegheri stumbled out of the gate Tuesday, giving up hits to the first two batters he faced and ultimately surrendering a pair of runs in the opening frame. This marked the southpaw's first big-league start of the season and his first MLB appearance since July 8. Through three appearances spanning nine innings, Aldegheri owns an 8.00 ERA and 2.22 WHIP.

Walker (5-7) allowed two runs on four hits and struck out one in one inning to take the loss and a blown save Tuesday versus the Cardinals.

Walker turned a one-run lead into a one-run deficit in the ninth inning, resulting in his sixth blown save of the year. He's been shaky in September, allowing six runs over 6.2 innings while converting four of six save chances. For the season, he's at 16 saves and eight holds while adding a 4.05 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 58:17 K:BB across 60 innings.

O'Brien struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Giants.

JoJo Romero faced the minimum three batters in the ninth inning, leaving with two outs and Matt Chapman on second base after a double. O'Brien came in and struck out pinch hitter Wilmer Flores on five pitches to strand the tying runner. This was O'Brien's sixth save of the year, all of which have come since Ryan Helsley was traded to the Mets. For the season, O'Brien has added six holds while maintaining a 1.96 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 43:21 K:BB through 46 innings.

Scott (1-4) allowed two runs on a hit, a walk and a hit batsman over two-thirds of an inning, taking a blown save and the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Scott was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning and couldn't get the job done. He entered Tuesday with a four-inning scoreless streak, but much of that had come in lower-leverage spots after his struggles in late August and early September. Over his last 10 outings, the southpaw has allowed nine runs with a 7:6 K:BB in 7.1 innings while converting just two of five save chances. He's now at a 4.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 57:17 K:BB across 55 innings while converting 22 of 32 save opportunities. Manager Dave Roberts hasn't made a change at the back of his bullpen yet, but if Scott is removed from the closer role, Alex Vesia could get more save chances.
